Such a cool, badass little moment with how the pilot announces the Vic Viper's presence to deal with the Bacterians. All neatly timed with the music. Gives off a sense that planet Gradius may have been on the backfoot in previous games against their adversaries but now *THEY'RE* on their home turf dealing with this invasion and are not to be trifled with. That, and how ridiculously overpowered this "T-301" model is that it can confidently deal with this battle solo and from the get-go. No longer a mere last resort.

Actually, from what I've read, Sakimoto started out doing electronica before he stepped into his well-known orchestral style. This is a return for him. It's nice to hear as well - as much as I love his FFT, VS, and RSG soundtracks, it's great to hear a different style from him.

That's actually a thing. Konami is releasing a lineup of arcade classics on PS4 starting with Goemon and Scramble this month with Gradius (Arcade ver.) in January. Hopefully if they keep the line going we'll see rarities like Xexex, Salamander 2 and whatnot show up at some point.

I think Gradius V soundtrack is the best work of Sakimoto Hitoshi comparable to Magical Chase soundtrack ( though both include other composers' works ). This is overwhelming his works in Cave (ケイブ).

Gradius 5 has some really get music but the gameplay just isnt all that great. The whole background keeps getting in the way when I'm trying to hit enemies. The weapon selection just the lasers alone for all types. I hate the fact that you have to beat the game just to get the weapons edit selection. I think Gradius 3 is by far the best Gradius game in the series.

Too many people said the same about Gradius 3 for SNES. It's MOSTLY because it is one of the easiest in the series X) Games advances on the moving of the time - many people plays normally with all of the backgrounds X) If you played enough shmups you'll realize that Gradius V is one of the best 2D to 3D shmups ever existed - not because i'm just a fan of the series - it's because i played enough shmups to state that opinion X) About the problem for using lasers on all types - you can select Very Easy difficulty if you're having problems on loop 1 with weapons types selection. If you have weapon edit on the start of the game it'll destroy the purpose of something called challenge

I think Gradius 5 didn't give different types of laser on presets, but instead gave all the same laser type. I think the Ripple should've been one of the presets. I also don't know why they have all the same shield type either.

It seems you didn't get what i meant X) You select the weapons they picked for you before having weapon edit because it IS a challenge as i'm sure of X) Also they selected force field as your protection because it is the best for all situations but it is limited to 3 hits as i expect from their reason on selecting it. They've carefully picked those selections to be between a good selection ( not best ) and a good challenge as it seems to me :)

Challenge my ass some of the stage are freaking horrible the meteor stage suck and that green fart cloud stage sucks. And who the shell decided to put boss rush after stage 2, I would've been fine having them near the end of the general not the beginning of it.I just can't appreciate some of the dumb things they put in Gradius V. Other youtubers who play this one make it look easy but it's not. And I'm playing this on Very Easy but it doesn't feel like it on that level.

Couldnotic If the stages were that difficult - then don't try Gradius III Arcade version stage 7 ( i think ) were you encounter fire meteors X) The crystal stage of Gradius II Gofer No Yabou Arcade version can also be difficult at a certain points X) I used to have problems in the past with Gradius 2 MSX on stage 4 ( Dancing Venus ) where you keep getting attacked from the icicle meteors if you stayed below the floating area at the end of the stage before facing the Bigcore MK-Is spamming one by one at you before facing the dangerous boss Mayhem which has 2 arms like a scorpion shooting aimed lightnings at you before attempting to crush you on the other side of the screen by charging at you with it's whole body X) Trust me - if i were to be honest - there are other Gradius games which are if not just as difficult as the Meteor stage of Gradius V - it could be even worse X) About boss rush - ever heard of Chaos Field ? That game from the beginning to the end of the game you're already facing the bosses X) Also the boss rush of stage 2 for Gradius V - they did something like that before on Gradius III The Eve Of Destruction MSX on maybe stage 3 or maybe after stage 2 which if they're not easier they could be almost close to the difficulty of it X) If you know on how to use your weapon type - they should be as good as like walking on a park :) About Stage 6 ( Something Green ) it's a tough challenge to try beating it with Rotating Option Type or Spacing Option Type & maybe even Freeze Type. but with Direction Option Type - you should do fine :) Usually - in each newer release of a certain series - they should make it more difficult to give a tougher challenge compared to the previous titles if people want to try something more challenging than what it was in the past X)
