Thanks! I thought it turned out good too. Its so hard to achieve a true royal blue, you have to add a little purple to make it pop 😉

@@sandranabakka2646 You're welcome! They take a little patience but they are fairly easy to make! I just found a font online that I liked. I like to use 1001fonts.com. then I traced it out, make a stencil and cut it out of fondant. I find it helps to roll out your fondant nice and thin and let it dry a few minutes before you start cutting. Makes for cleaner cuts☺️

This is awesome. I have to make a Grad cake for a Grad party next month. Thanks for the video. Also what did you use for the flat part of the cap? Is it just made out of fondant or did you use cardboard/cake board as well? I'm debating on what to use.
@TheRobynsNest4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I have another cute grad cake coming up soon you should keep your eye out for. For the top of the cap I just used fondant with lots of cmc aka tylo powder mixed in and l let it harden in a warm dry place. If you can add just a little heat to it, it dries so fast. I like to use my food dehydrator with the cover off for max airflow

@@TheRobynsNest Ohhh awesome. Thanks so much for the tips and I'll keep an eye out for your next video.

Adorable design and very well explained! Thank you. Could you please tell the ratio of Tylo powder to the fondant, when making the top of the graduation cap, and also for the tassel? How do you incorporate it? Just mixing it in by hand? Thanks so much!
@TheRobynsNest2 жыл бұрын
It really depends on how hard you want you fondant to firm up. The more you add, the harder it will be to eat, and tylose does give of a bit of a taste that is still edible but quite unpleasant to some people. I’m not a fan, lol. If I was to estimate I would say that a piece of fondant about the size of your fist would need about 2-3 tsp of tylose for the top of the cap. I like to just sprinkle in a little at a time by kneeding it into the fondant. You will notice the texture of your fondant start to change. It will become less sticky and more elastic the more you add. For the tassel, you’ll want to use less so it’s easier to roll out.
