THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.. This tutorial is completely a game changer.. These simple tips have elevated my cake game.. The most useful tip for me was holding the bench scraper at the bottom and the way you applied the buttercream for the initial coating.. My cake ALWAYS comes out with the top being narrow and the bottom is wider and I can usually cover it with decorations, BUT now I just did a cake using these techniques and it’s a game changer.. Again Thank You and many blessings 🙏🏾❤️

For some reason, it's taken me a while to specifically look into how to make cakes. I started baking both from boxes & scratch at 7 & that was almost 21 years ago now. I think about 3 years ago I finally decided to look a little more into how to actually do it (learning about the crumb layer was such a cake changer). I learned a lot from this video, I think seeing the wrong way to do things can be really helpful. I was actually looking into how to work with fondant when this video was suggested, so I wasn't expecting to learn about how to frost a cake. I'm definitely going to be looking at your other videos.

Thank you so much for this video! I was doing it backwards but recently realized I should do the top first. I also realized I was scraping the cake too hard and stopped putting so much pressure on the scraper. It’s also about smoothing and filling in the frosting, not scraping until it’s even. I will start using a piping bag to apply frosting. You explained this so well. Sharing it with my cake group. I naturally learned some of this on my own but it took a year!!! If I’d seen this video it would have saved me a lot of frustration. 😂

Oh my gosh, I’ve been decorating cakes since my daughter was 1 (she’s older than you) & I still make some of these mistakes! My granddaughter has been by my side making cakes since she was a toddler so she’s learning what I know. Darn, we just did a cake last week & this would have been helpful. Her 8th bd is in July so we will be applying all of these techniques. I decorate cakes as a hobby & only do several a year, so I usually struggle a bit. In the end my cakes are pretty & taste good but never as perfect as I want them to be. I’m all the way in hot, humid Texas so we have that to deal with too. 🥵 Thank you for all you do, I’ve been watching your channel for a long time & you’re so cute & love your beautiful work. 😊
