it’s how you position yourself on the pole, and if you have an entry level boot that’ll also cause pain in the legs as a good pair of line boots should come with dual shanks.

The schools are good but dont think you havta go to them to start your apprenticeship. You can jump on literally any company. Most of these schools get your money, make you climb and intern for 8 months, slap you on the ass and tell you your a lineman. Big scam
@lakebing2759 Жыл бұрын
How do you start apprenticeship with the school tho
@acescape88 Жыл бұрын
@lakebing2759 Some of the schools will use a separate company that is an apprenticeship to at least get them through the first year so they are ready to jump on at an actual company. These schools typically cost more since going through an accredited apprenticeship through the labor board can be upto $5000 a year. Most line companies you work for will generally pay for your apprenticeship as u get on the job training.

This is why us utility tree climbers will always be a lineman's hero 😂 we gotta deal with the electricity AND the trees
@motarted17355 ай бұрын
That's interesting, as a lineman myself who also does line clearance for my utility, I helped my brother start a tree business that also became the most successful business locally. I've learned that the line clearance crews have a razor thin margin of profit because just about any tree crew out there wants in on it because it's so easy. In fact, my brother's business doesn't even bid line clearance because there is no money to be made when any idiot can cut the branches away from the lines. How can you say you deal with electricity when you have to adhere to a strict minimum approach distance? We are the ones actually putting our hands on the energized lines, there is no utility out there that allows tree trimmers to touch power lines. There's a reason lineman make twice as much money, and maybe some of them consider you a hero because you're doing all the simple minded backbreaking work that lineman don't want to do. It's actually ironic because lineman are expected to know how to rig, trim, and fell trees, it's actually required in order to become a journeyman. Utilities only contract their tree work out because it's cheaper.
