My sister was salutatorian at Center High School. She rapped her graduation speech. I'm so proud.
The speech:
As I see my fellow graduates and all of your relations
There's one thing I can say it's congratulations
It's an emotional day, full of sadness yet elation
And as you walk across that stage to get your certification
Look back, reminisce, remember what got you here
I think we all can recall when we were freshmen full of fear
And look at us now in our gowns we're dressed
We are the class of eleven, the best of the best
We always give our all and never anything less
Okay... that's exaggerating I guess
At one time or another we've all had senioritis
Then how'd we get here? It's the ones who stood beside us
And encouraged us to keep on keepin' on
For most it was our very own dads and our moms
And the teachers who taught us more than basic knowledge
Of the math, English and sciences and how to get to college
But also life lessons, how to grow as people
Advice to be remembered, I know that we will
Our high school years are ending but they'll never really perish
Cuz we'll always have these special memories that we can cherish
For some, it's winning that championship game
And for others it's a simple, "He remembered my name!"
Or maybe, it's when you aced that class
For me it's making friendships I know that will last
So in conclusion, all I have to say is...
Class of eleven, I think it's quite evident
We're ready for great things
One of us could be President
Or maybe just residents of a better community
As we all come together in unity, you will see
Even as our scenes are changing
New places we'll see
New things we'll be saying
We'll always be able to fall back to our roots
So here's to Center High School
And here's to our youth
