Great boat! I also have a 2006 232. When I purchased the boat it had the same engines as yours. I repowered her with twin Suzuki 200 with fly by wire controls and steering. The 200's perform much better and even have better fuel economy. I installed the Optima 360 steering system with joystick control. This was a huge improvement on the steering of the boat. I can literally take my hands off the wheel and the boat drives straight. What truck are you using to tow the boat?

Thanks! That’s good to know. I know I’m up for a repower at some point! I am using a two wheel drive F150. Believe it or not it pulls it pretty well. Never spins the tires pulling it out of the water. But I’m only towing it a couple miles. But when I get a new truck it’s going to be 4WD. Maybe even a 250 just to have bigger brakes and and a heavier tow vehicle. Thanks for watching!

It’s by Magma. It’s stainless steel. Been very pleased with it. And when we bought it we also got the tray that hooks on the front which gives you a place to set plates, utensils etc. We store it in a plastic tote bin which we also use as the table when we eat. It’s that reddish bin you see in the video. Hope that helps!

Where did you get the console cover for flush mount fishfinders? The 2006 232 came with that electronics compartment.

Curious if you have a thru hull transducer. I am getting ready to install one on 232 and am curious on where’s yours may be positioned and how it performs ? Thanks -Jared

No it’s the typical mount. It’s mounted just to the right of the drain hole. There is a good bit of interference when I’m running. I don’t get a very clear picture when I’m running. I would think the through hull would solve that. So that’s probably the way to go! Thanks for watching!

I really appreciate this video. Currently looking at a used 2005 and trying to work out a deal. How well does this boat perform in 2-3' seas and in chop? How is your fuel consumption?

Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video. This boat does really well in the standard 2-3ft seas. I can still usually go at least 20mph without banging. I can usually keep my fuel consumption between 1.5-2 mpg. I don’t run it hard and keep my eye on the consumption and ride to keep it in that range. Let me know if you think of anything else

@@forgottencoastfishing I appreciate your response. Your reported mpg's is better than I would have thought. if all goes well I'll have this boat soon. Do you know how many hours these motors will typically last as long as they are properly maintained? I think the boat I am looking at will likely need a repower in a few years as the current engines have 1550 hours on them.

Thanks! Yes I love this boat! My dad had a sailfish and then a marlin so a lot of my younger days of fishing were on Grady’s. So when i found this one I jumped on it! No I haven’t done a walkthrough of the bay boat. I had another subscriber ask about that as well, so look for that at some point! Thanks for watching!

Great video, thanks for showing her off. I have owned a 1993 Gulfstream for 2 years and enjoy it off shore in Treasue Coast Florida. Looking to possibly repower at this time. You have twin 150's. Do you have all the power you need ? And what are you're estimated gallons per hour for a day of, " run out to fish, troll around a few hours, hopefully catch, catch, catch, and run back to the ramp" ? Maybe six or seven hours ? Thanks! Glad you liked the video. Yes those 150’s power the boat just fine, I’ve never had it wide open so it goes as fast as I need it. I’ll check on some more details on fuel consumption the next time I’m out and get back to you, but when running out to a spot if it’s calm I can go about 35 mph and get about 1.8 mpg and if it’s rough I can go about 25 mph and get about 1.4 mpg. I’ll check on what it looks like at trolling speed. But I usually burn 40-60 gallons per trip which is typically 20-30 miles offshore mainly anchoring on reefs going to 3-5 reefs and turning the engines off when anchoring. About a 7 hour trip. But I’ll get a little more details next time I’m out and let you know! Are you considering the Helm Master system? I would love to get that if budget allows when I have to repower. If it’s as good as advertised it seems very helpful to stay on a reef without having to deal with the anchor. Thanks for watching!

I like your Grady White. One necessity for me is a trolling motor. I'm approaching seventy years old, and not able to fool with anchoring. IMO...Yamaha F-150 is the best engine ever made. Just think, you have a Ford F150, and two Yamaha F-150s. Win, win. I'll be staying in Apalach come June for the RS opening.

Need to stretch her legs and hit the Middlegrounds. I would for sure. Plenty capable for it. But invest in that 2 speed reel first or you may be too tired to drive back

You happen to know if your model year has a wooden transom? Awesome review btw

Thanks! Im not sure, I know the deck is 3/4 inch marine plywood encapsulated with resin. So it could be, but the transom is as solid as the day we got it. The only issue I ever have had, is it sat for about 5 years when my son was born prematurely and I had some wood rot around the front floor hatch. It looks like water got in where the wood was cut for that hatch. I had to have a section cut out and replaced. That’s when I replaced all the hatches, took the carpet up and painted. But when I replaced the hatches I coated the edges of the plywood with resin so hopefully won’t have that issue again! Thanks for watching!

Definitely thought about it. I talked with my mechanic and it can be done, although he said it’s tougher on Grady’s due to running the wiring etc. The other thought I had was when I repower is to get the Yamaha Helm Master system. But my mechanic says my engines have a lot of life in them so right now, at least, I’m using the anchor which is not too bad with the windlass. Thanks for watching!

WHAT ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE ON THE ROUGH SEAS, AND THE STABILITY WHEN ANCHORING

I’ve been out in some pretty rough seas and I’ve never felt unsafe. Even in 2-4 seas with the trim tabs I can still go 25 or so mph. I don’t like to bang the boat so I tend to take it easy, but definitely for a mid 20 foot boat it feels and handles the chop very well. At anchor in rough seas it does roll a bit, but I think most boats would do the same. Due to the hull shape it feels quite stable. It really is a good mix of size and weight to handle rough seas but small enough to trailer, and not spend a fortune on fuel.

It’s made by CIPA. I don’t see a model number on it, it was on the boat when I got it. But just google cipa rearview mirror and you’ll see them. Thanks for watching!

@@forgottencoastfishing Thanks! I was able to find it but curious as to how yours is mounted. Looks like it might be screwed in through the aluminum channel? The bracket on this mirror normally would go over the top edge and screw in, but the canvas is in the way which is my issue. If yours is screwed in through the aluminum channel, then perhaps I can do the same on mine.

Yes it’s screwed in. There is a bolt that goes through a rounded bar that runs lengthwise vertically right where the two window panels meet. It looks like the rounded bar is part of the port side window panel. There is a hole drilled through that rounded bar. And the head of the bolt is outside towards the front of the boat and the nut is on the inside of the mirror bracket. Hope that helps. Just got into boating currently have a Trophy 1703cc. I plan on going bigger reference having more space for the family and doing over night trips. After watching your review really considering this specific make and model boat. Looking forward to future reviews and videos.

It’s a good boat for the family as well as fishing. I got this boat for the same reasons you mentioned. I considered a Parker but it only has the V berth and could only really sleep two. Having the 3rd bunk in the Grady is nice. If you haven’t already check out the video where we spend the night on the Grady. It shows a bit more of the boat and how we use it to spend the night on it. Nice review, thank you. One aspect worthy of note--the width. A friend ended up with the 25 foot model--not because he needed two more feet, because the 25 was not as wide; on the road, the 23 is TOO WIDE in some states. Recommend anyone who wants to buy this great boat determine if you will be LEGAL towing the darn thing. My friend found out he could not tow it--New Jersey I think it was, so ended up with a longer, but narrower boat.

Exactly right. Here in Florida we need to apply for a special yearly permit. But fortunately I only have to tow a couple miles to the boat ramp. But still a pain to get a permit each year. Thanks for watching!

@@forgottencoastfishing Your point, is the key point. I am seven miles from my ramp--and though "technically" I am over, as long as I am careful (and I am), it is probably a mute point. Of course, I would NEVER--nor would you--try to squeeze her into too small a space between cars. I would literally stop and put on emergency blinkers before I did that. By the way, a great aftermarket thing I have (can't recall the maker) is a plug in light bar for the cavitation plate AND the guide rails, so I have super bright LED's way up high AND on the plate. I always say if anyone hits me, THEY have a lot of explaining to do--they sure beat a red flag.

2006. Same with the engines. The previous owner gave me a notebook with all the service records etc. I got lucky, it was well taken care of. My mechanic says the engines have a lot of life left in them. They had about 700 hours on them when I got it. Thanks for watching!
