I thought I was alone in always having the camera in the car ! Good shots once again, just a pity there wasn't room for a cabride down the valley. Keep 'em coming

Very enjoyable, Bob. Glad you included the close up of the knuckle coupler at 1:18- not often seen on British trains, unfortunately (I am a fan of American railroad practice!). Very best wishes to you and your good lady for Christmas and the New Year.....Mervyn

Thanks Mervyn, those Bubkeye couplings are more common these days, and very effective in operation. Compliments og the season to you and your family as well...have a great time...Bob

Good video, and liked the interlocking points bit. Tower seems to be still accommodating coal workings after 2010 with open cast extraction of the remaining anthracite

Thanks Justin, I didn't realise there was still a regular flow out of Tower...Bob

Nice vid Bob. If both Tower trains are running on the day, you get the empties for the second train about an hour or so after this goes down. Think they pass near Pontypridd somewhere. Stu

Thanks Stu, last time I filed this train was about four years ago, so it was a real surprise to catch this one.....Best wishes....Bob

There are plans afoot to extend the passenger services from the New Station at Aberdare to Hirwaun a little North of Aberdare, which will provide an excellent service to Cardiff for passengers in the area...Bob

There's something very evocative about an abandoned station. So is that the new station in the distance?
@robmasterman11 жыл бұрын
The new station can be seen in the distance Andrei, but like many places is just a shadow of this old station when it was in it's prime. Aberdare also had a large locomotive shed allocated just behind the station....Regards...Bob

I hate to see graffiti over here also but, it seems to be a part of life now. I wonder if that old station will ever be restored. Well done! Rich

The amount of Tower trains has gone up from previous years, not unusual to do 10 per week, so quite often both trains run each day to move the tonnage.

Great rare branch line catch. Are the trap points at Aberdare interlocked with the token system so as to allow other trains on the line while the coal train is doing its work?
@robmasterman10 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much, the section of line from this point to the terminal at Tower Colliery is operated on a Single line token system. This line also operates a passenger service as far as the New station allocated a short distance from the catch points, and as a single track, also operates on a token system from Abercynon Signal Box, a few miles South...Hope that helps...Bob

The station was closed many years ago Dave, and a new one is a little further South, albeit a typical modern design,.....I remember this one when it was operational, and it was a thriving place witha locomtive shed just behind it.....Bob
