Alex Vives lol fuck off clown ass . Speaking on shit you know nothing about , you’re from the outside looking in .. there is culture in graffiti dating all the way back from the 70’s . Yeah there’s mad toys who tag up everything looking like shit but there’s people who actually follow a strict code . It’s vandalism . It even dates way back to cavemen marking their name up on the wall - it’s the same concept . It’s an underground subculture of some extremely dedicated artists who risk their life for their name in the streets - those who come from poverty and the slums where it’s their escape from drugs and violence . You wouldn’t understand cuz you’re a simp and a regular joe . This shit isn’t for you to understand .

I`m a Oldschool writer too - I started in 1983 and I can relate to Asher and how he thinks however as I grew I learned not to fight against or push the boundaries of society but rather work within - I found that you can get what you want out of this world by compromising and accepting some parts that you may not like or disagree with. I can tell by the violence mentioned that he is still fighting for something that he can never gain. The narcissistic tendencies that Graffiti Writers surround themselves with is a bit egotistical and hard to get out of - that is the result of having to do whatever in order to earn validation and credibility from our peers. I was so glad to hear that his children are successful and I hope that he can learn to use his skill more constructively - Curb the anger and use that emotion to be more open to being part of and not outside of society. I am a teacher, a father and a Graffiti Writer - I paint because Its who I am, What I do and my mental stability, my clarity and my inner peace is well taken care of - I create for me - but - I like the praise I get - I am satisfied and don`t need to fight against society anymore, I do for me but also I do to show others. Good luck with your court case Asher - use this as a learning experience and try to be more positive for your family

My uncle is a rather rich man that is said to own a few different properties in NYC/NYS. He often will say that he's just investing money in properties because he ultimately has to get consent to modify a property that's supposed to be under his ownership. I'm not sure about other states, but an "owner" of a property just can't do as they please with something they're said to be the owner of. You can pay off your home, but could lose that home/money you invested for failure to pay the never ending tax that comes with what you are said to own.

I find the comments here quite interesting compared to the other videos; particularly the comments of praise towards gang members that tell stories of shootings, drug abuse, robbery, etc. But the moment a guy says he changes the colours of a wall in the street, it's too far. This really speaks about how society perceives graffiti as some horrific crime rather than the art form is really is. From the very start the artist mentions that he'd write his daughter's name around the city to make her happy, that there details his artistic expression and willingness to create to make others happy.

You can say what you want, but the illegal graffiti scene has sparked a massive art movement in return, one of which the majority of people are amazed by when it is in legal confinements. But, its roots, the "illegal" side will always have a place as being authentic, and respected by those who understand and or took part in that movement. Hence why he (and a whole list of others) has gained a spot in the history books and will have credit long after. Not many people can say that.
@amandarios44810 ай бұрын
I really don't like graffiti myself, it's just not my type of art, but its kinda stupid to deny how much graffit has influenced art, just go to a shopping mall and look at the clothes, a lot of everybody's Tshirts look like it could have been s=inspired by grafitty, look at modern urban stamps. And thats not even talkimng about music, popular culture, photography, tattoos. Yes it's kinda illegal and prevalent in high crime areas and maybe thats why some people see it as ugly, the illegal or not illegal argument is a bit moot, illegal today, legal tomorrow, weed was like that and some people thought it would never change.

I like Asher. Great Artwork. We need for him to come to Las Vegas, NV and have him take advantage of the spaces in Downtown Fremont Street East of the Experience. That would be beautiful. Some Art/Graffiti is there, but most of the larger buildings are empty creating great canvases. Thanks for sharing Mark, I like him because he seems to know who he is and stand up for what he had to bring to the table. Great job, and much success.

Unlike alot of you writing comments, I really enjoyed listening to him talk. I thought he made some decent points. The one fucked up thing is that he says he wouldn't want someone to do "art" on his business. And at the same time he goes out and does it to other people, and even when confronted and told to stop, his response is "atleast let me finish". Dude is talking about respect and then goes and does this shit.

@Glitter Kiss Because they have no home to quarantine themselves in? Hardly any money, if at all, to stockpile food, let alone toilet paper? No health insurance, no money for a copay, no support system, etc? There are plenty of reasons to be worried about them. The question is: why aren't you?

I can understand what he meant by that comment. A conversation I had with my uncle many years ago made me understand that he himself doesn't refer to himself as an owner of the multiple properties he's said to own. He has to get permission to modify what he's said to own, or he could face hefty fines for doing what he pleases to something that's not completely under his control. He just looks at properties as an investment that he can get a return on.

I will never fucking understand why people think it is okay illegally vandalize someone else property. It costs money to fucking clean that up. The city allocates money for graffiti busters but small business have to pay that out of pocket. Your art needs to be something beautiful not a carved name on my store front glass or a paint pen on my front doors. This is bs and half of y’all do it for the thrill not the art.
