Very true. Nothing like a fresh wall to tag up. But the issue isnt just graffiti. Stickers are probably more prevalant and those are harder to remove. With all these graff and stickers out there how many arrests do you think they have for vandalism? Honestly i feel like if there were more patrols in all cities crime would go down but i hardly ever see police besides on highways or 711. I rarely see them doing rounds in the places ive lived. Nj ny ca. How many people know their local police?

He is taking about graffiti as art not random tags. Real graffiti artist paint legally on property that they have permission to do so on. I live in a small town in Tennessee and over the past year or so we have had a lot of professional artist come in and paint really beautifully murals on the less attractive buildings and the whole town looks a million times better. Those artist had permission from building owners unlike these hideous tags everywhere. He is right, tagging a mailbox adds nothing to the community as opposed to real street art. I really don’t see the issue with his statement.
@johannsmithe2570
@johannsmithe2570 3 жыл бұрын
@@nicholase1256 In graffiti there's tags, throw-ups, pieces, ranging from small to large in size.Tags can include gang related script. Sounds like your town has murals. Thing is *tags* need to be removed as soon as possible within a few hours or more will follow by other tag writers. Similiar to a dog marking its territory. It is up to the business owner to remove the graffiti a.s.a.p., if nothing esle by sratching the tag with a line to discourage graffiti. Its a long process the *community* has to do together. Local police have programs to educate people to counter graffiti. Waiting for the city to do something is too little too late. Notice the photo of Andy Warhol on the gallery's wall. Jean Baquait was Andy's boyfriend who was a famous NYC graffitist so the gallery owner was careful not to alienate any potential customers by speaking categorically against graffiti. If the gallery paintings shown in this news report are typical then he sells high-priced graffiti and doesn't appreciate the free competition on his property. He's not opposed to selling dreck he just doesn't want to eat his own dreck. That's for everyone esle. And there's the bind or catch-22 he's caught in. He can't remove the graffiti he promotes without exposing himself as a fake to his hipster clients so he needs the city (taxpayer) to do his dirty work. Depends how much he contributes to getting them off their butts. SoHo is pretty ritzy. Graffiti has been literally all over the city but if it hits SoHo then it gets on the news. If it was TriBeCa there wouldn't even have been a newscast.

Graffiti cant be stopped unless you take away walls and paint. Stickers became the new graffiti for those that want to express but cant draw lol. I think the issue is the police are allocated incorrectly. We need more patrols. What happened to those. I wanna see the same officer bob or whoever roll down my street like clockwork 7pm every day or so i know we are being protected. This will also help build relationships. We can argue til we are blue in the face about graffiti, but it won't go away. Plenty of people have built up a murderous rage over shit like this. If we are to remain objective, some graffiti looks great, is in a spot considered acceptable, and can generate positivity and creativity. Other times, it's scrawled onto people's property, and is more a selfish endeavor only made to satisfy themselves and others who don't mind being called a vandal rather than artist. People are going to make anything into what they want. With or without consideration and regard for others. That's how we are as humans. Always doing whatever the fuck we want. Many examples that are not as black and white as graffiti.. don't work yourself up, there are bigger fish to fry.

we gotta start from the roots guys, start off tagging apartments then when we get a good graffiti following that has lots of people tagging we can go to the tunnels get back the trains we can revive a whole scene this year.

Graffiti is from artists not BLM...but ignorance abounds. Couldnt be bored youth, closed businesses or lack of activities but yeah BLM though, because anything else like the pandemic was too difficult to be part of the cause.

Chicanos were doing graffiti back in la since the late 40’s early 50’s. New York was just the first to go public nation wide with the airing of style wars about graffiti.
