Your approach is much better than others 😊 The procedure is complicated and not easy to understand and memorize. Your approach solves this problem 👍👍

Fantastic video - thank you, Roxanne. Clarity about whether to do set up rows and the differences between CO in round and flat. Really pulled it all together for me and the 'U-turn' memory tip is the icing on the cake!

This was a great video-very clear and helpful! I’ve done a lot of grafting, but always forget the instructions. The U-turn idea was really intuitive and easier for me to remember. Thank you!

I've been looking at 2x2 bind off tutorials for weeks, because I switched from mainly cuff-down to mainly toe-up socks. It was very hard to find one that really WORKED and I'd resigned myself to bunch of experimentation. Thank you for this fantastic timing!

Thank you for the tutorial! I did an Italian bind off on a sweater last winter in 2x2, but the tutorial I used didn't move the stitches onto two needles. It SERIOUSLY messed with my head and I had to watch the video 3 times before attempting it. Your way I can instantly tell is MUCH better. I had sworn off this technique forever, but now that you've made this tutorial perhaps I'll reconsider if the occasion arises!

You have blown my mind, Roxanne🤯 I’ve been doing sewn bindoffs with the needle in my right hand all along, because I do as many thing right-handed as I can. I have trouble figuring out how to do things “backwards” even though I somehow learned to write with my left hand. But I’m certain I can recreate this left-handed, scince I have your careful and clear instructions. U-turn indeed! That’s such a perfect image❤️ Yes you do rock!

I'm used to doing a K1P1 Italian bindoff but I've wondered if you could do it with 2x2 ribbing. Thanks for the great explanation and demo! 🙂

Great video! I use your bindoff techniques for everything. I’m currently putting 2x2 ribs on all my hems, cuffs, and necks.

Thanks for the video--so clear as always! This is great and makes so much sense seeing it done. I typically do Italian sewn bind off for 1x1, but for 2x2 I was told you had to convert it to 1x1 to do that (as doing on one needle), so I avoided sewn bind offs for 2x2. However, I also graft when making socks etc so now the lightbulb has gone off seeing this video! Love these moments...

There are always multiple ways of doing things. It is possible to do 2x2 grafting off of one needle *without* rearranging the sts first, but I do find putting them on parallel needles easier, especially if you're used to grafting, because the actions are automatic.

Thank you for another great tutorial. I have only been knitting socks from the cuff down because I always disliked the way the stretchy bind off look. This looks so much better, I may just have to try it on toe up socks, again thank you.❤

Thanka for the great tutorial. I would love you to demonstrate how to join the alternating cable cast on in the round so it doesn't have a gsp or jog. Thank you.

Thank you for your video. I have tried to do the Italian cast on but it takes so long so I do the Alternate Cable cast on. I think that is what its called and it looks like a rolled edge. Maybe I just need to slow down and enjoy the process. Thank you again.
@RoxanneRichardson4 ай бұрын
I have several videos on the tubular cast on that might be easier than what you've been doing. I also have a video on the alternating cast on (it's not the alternating cable cast on) which matches the grafted cast on without the set up rows of double knitting.

This was super helpful, thank you! One thing I was wondering about (not sure if it would fill a full video) is how to add on new strands of yarn when doing a long grafted bind-off, especially if I'm using a superwash yarn or something where I can't spit-splice effectively.
@RoxanneRichardson4 ай бұрын
As mentioned in the video, I do have a video on adding a new length of yarn while doing a sewn bind off. It is linked to in the video as a card, as well as down in the video description. It's this video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h4WoooCKoayDbrc

I love grafted bind offs and always use them on 1x1 ribbing. I'm working on a cardi for my granddaughter and it has 2x2 ribbing. I understand your instructions. My question is, there is a single knit stitch on either end of the row, that will be used to pick up for the button bands. Does it make sense to just bind those off "normally"?
@RoxanneRichardson4 ай бұрын
You could potentially graft the extra stitch together with the adjacent k st. In other words, if you have 3 knit sts, work the first two as one knit stitch, with the third as the "second" knit stitch, for grafting purposes.Likewise, at the end of the row, work the 2nd and 3rd together as a single stitch while grafting.

Yes. I have several videos on the grafted BO for 1x1 ribbing. One demonstrates with the two parallel needles, and one grafts off of one needle.

Do you have a video for this for working on the bind on edge? I removed 10 rows from the start of the work and now want to bind off. I'm not very experienced so I am not sure how to phrase my question.
@RoxanneRichardson3 ай бұрын
When you knit or bind off in the direction opposite of the way the item was knit, you get a 1/2-stitch offset in the stitch pattern. This is not noticeable in stockinette, except at the edges (for flat items), but it will be noticeable in knit/purl patterns like ribbing. What that means is that the bind off is not going to maintain the stitch pattern correctly. If what you have is a few inches of ribbing that transitions to stockinette, you can remove all of the ribbing, capture the live sts at the start of the stockinette, and then re-knit the ribbing . That will allow you to then do the bind off in pattern, and it will look correct.
@lindabrasgalla33813 ай бұрын
@@RoxanneRichardson The whole piece is ribbed, that's my problem. It's an afghan so I just want to match the other end as much as possible. I did an italian bind off. I had to take off the rows at the beginning to match the rest of the stripe pattern. Long story....
