Grafting Several Varieties of Stone Fruit Onto One Tree! Step by Step

One of the most entertaining trees to graft is any member of the Prunus genus (plums, nectarines, apricots, cherry, almond, pluots, peaches, etc.). All of these are graft compatible, meaning they can all be grafted onto each other. You can create a powerhouse tree with all of these fruits growing on it. All you need is some rootstock (plant a seed of any of these or buy a small tree), plant it, let it grow a little, and after that the possibilities are limitless!
Scions were collected in February 2021. Grafts were done the next day in February 2021. Follow up video was May 2021.
In this video, I collect scions (small stems of any desired tree) from my cousin's trees and graft them all onto a seedling peach tree. I graft pluot (a hybrid of plum and apricot), apricot, and plum onto the peach tree. Now there are four species growing on one tree and I'll hopefully have a big harvest next year!
In the video, I use the Olfa XH-1 Utility Knife (unsponsored). The link to it:

AJ. I followed your directions exactly. I took 5 Pluerry cuttings and grafted them onto a Peach Tree. 5 weeks later, and they all took! All 5 are alive and growing. Thanks to you Graft Man! You rock…Cheers!

I just started a similar project on my nectarine tree. Wish I had thought of this years ago. My tree is 11 years old and I've grown it from seed. I've added some peach stems from a neighbor's tree, and added Spice Zee Nectaplum which I got online. More cuttings are in the mail. It is a great way to increase fruit diversity, spread out harvest time (what would we even do with a ton of nectarines ripening at once other than share and preserve), and safe space (the yard is only so big, so it is like an orchard on one tree).

So cool that we don’t need heaps of trees to have apricots, 🍒, 🍑, nectarines, plums etc. Just one tree is all that’s needed.

Forget about giving you just 1 thumb up. You’ve got all ten fingers. 👏👏👏👏👏👏 I’ve seen others cover the scions with plastic bags to retain moisture, but wrapping the scion completely with grafting tape is brilliant. I was about to go outside to do a few grafts and I thought of checking a few more channels to get different ideas. Came across your channel by accident. So glad I did. Now I am really going outside to graft a few stone fruit trees. I’m in Australia, if you’re thinking I’m crazy to be grafting in the middle of summer. Lol.

Very nice and just what I was looking for. I’m in zone 7b and my Santa Rosa plum always loose it’s blooms to a late frost. Last year a friend from work gave me a peace tree sapling. It’s not coming out of dormancy as soon as the plum. I’m hoping by grafting the plum onto the peach it will bloom a little later and I can get some plums ( and peaches too ).

What variety of apricot and plum? What type of winter dormant oil spray does your cousin use? Does he spray at “red bud” stage? Do all varieties produce “red buds” at the same time? If some red buds have set fruit while other varieties are still in red-bud stage, how is he able to spray the red buds while not spraying the fruit that has set on the other (or others) varieties? Love the video, AJ !
