I'm an Arsenal fan and I can tell you without doubt, the reason Thierry Henry left for Barcelona was to capture the Champions League Trophy. He had FA Cups, The World Cup, The Premier League Trophy, The League Cup.. but he was missing one Trophy that he yearned for. He left to fulfil his dream and win the Champions League before he was to old and I support his decision. He deserved it. What a Hero.

I have always said and believed that too. When they lost in the finals against Barca he probably knew that was an opportunity that he wouldn't get with Arsenal ever again. It was the Champions League that made him leave. It was winning a trophy (premiership) that made Van Persie leave Arsenal for ManU.

He wasted it for all of us. He could've scored four goals on his own in the final but was a shadow of his usual self. Then instead of dealing with the outcome he left to the team that he wasted it against! He did so much good for us, but there's no excuse for this one. He did the selfish thing. It's okay, it's his career, but don't try to make it look like it is all good.

@@alaooooy7 Well yes he certainly wasted a lot of opportunities. They had a lot of space in the counter attacks and I think that Bergkamp should have played. However Henry didn't play badly on purpose, of course. All players are selfish. He wanted to win the CL and that's why he moved to Barca. It may be selfish but I do understand his choice.

Which, as I said before, wasn't unbeaten anymore. In fact, 6 of the starting 11 left Arsenal before Henry did. And Rosicky, Hleb etc. while were good players, they were a level below what Barca offered Thierry. Deco, Eto'o, Ronaldinho. World-class players, and a chance to lift the CL.

Henry's decision to leave was the same as Van Persie, Arsenal wasn't competing for major trophies and Wenger wasn't really singing any players that could take them to the next level. Understandable really. If your a player of Henry/RVP level then you need to be in team that is regularly competing for major trophies.

Still Henry helped the club achieve a lot during his 7 years with Arsenal. He played 7 full seasons with Arsenal compared to that Van persie had one good season where he was able to stay fit and play the whole season and right after left the club, thats why he gets so much hate.

I knew why he was leaving though he simply wanted that UCL trophy he got as close as he ever would with Arsenal. I think Thierry left because of the reason that he wasn't sure that Arsene Wenger would stay at Arsenal. But I think the main thing was that you can not forget that Thierry Henry is a competitor. If Arsenal already had paid of their stadium then they would have had better players at the time. Meaning Henry would have stayed at Arsenal. It wasn't an easy decision for him, he said he cried. But I think a real Arsenal man would have sticked with Arsenal, like Ian Wright. Listen, I love Thierry and appreciate all he has done for Arsenal, but for the previous reason I list him number 4 on my top 5 Arsenal players.

Thierry Henry left due to the uncertainty about whether David Dein and Arsene Wenger the two men who brought him into the club and he respected the most were going to be there next season. In fact due to David Dein deciding to leave and the turmoil and shock the club was in at that time I think Wenger thought it right that it wasn't time yet and to stay and guide them through the process. Henry also did leave of course because of the attraction on top level trophy winning football and at that time it just didn't look like Arsenal was the right place for a player of that class. Still think these interviewers were being very disrespectful, even to sit on the same sofa as the man would be a personal honour of mine. He left because he had too much respect for the people that brought him into the club and he wanted the last few years he spent in footballs major leagues to be with a title winning team!
