Living in Norman for many years, I've run across very few people who were genuinely mad by Lincoln's departure. Like myself, many fans were simply disappointed in his character that was shown by his hasty departure.. - Lincoln was definitely in talks with USC before he left, while he vehemently denied doing so. His fly-by-night departure just solidified and confirmed our suspicions that he was negotiating a fresh contract behind the University's back - Norman is a great place for College Football and most folks are glad he's gone, seeing that he wanted to leave. Other coaches shamed him into telling his team, which according to several lasted about 2 minutes. He’s a good offensive coach but he’s prone to get ahead in a game, get really conservative and get beat. OU vs Georgia comes to mind. He puts no value on defense. I wonder how great of a coach he is with an average QB. He’s been great with B Mayfield, T Murray & C Williams. They are far from average college players. As to people breaking into his house, who knows, but you’d think that there would be a record of it. No incident report by Norman PD. Hey Stinkin’ Lincoln saw the handwriting on the wall. He started to slip the day he took over as head coach. Each year he got a little worse. He knew he wasn’t going to win in the SEC and he knew Sooner fans would not put up with it so he bolted to a softer conference with cupcake opponents and coached a team that had nowhere to go but up. We’ll see how he handles Big 10 opponents. A lot less cupcakes there. I mean he lost to OSU, Baylor, Tulane ( really?), Utah twice (unbelievable). Championships are won with DEFENSE!
