And you know this because? Lance went from being a mediocre climber and a primarily one day classic, stage chaser specialist to the greatest climber in the sport by a large margin. If the belief is that the sport has everyone (or almost everyone) juiced then those that can combine relentless dedication to training with being a superior responder to the PEDS that they choose to take will be head and shoulders above those that don’t dope (there were some) and those with a less financially backed doping program in the professional peloton.

@kodizzie38273 жыл бұрын
If that's all it was, a guy who was roided up beating another guy who was roided up then fair enough. The problem has many more facets though. First, people who accused Lance had their career ruined, he was absolutely relentless with his legal action. Then there was the people Lance stonewalled to stop them getting on the team because they didn't use PEDs. We can't forget about the people (however few and far between) that didn't use PED's and lost to him or other drug cheats, effectively robbing/stunting their career or preventing them from really competing at all. Keep in mind Lance was doing all of this while giving lip service to anti-ped stuff, the hypocrisy was absolutely stunning. If we're going to allow PED's into cycling (and whatever other sports) it's just going to turn into a competition of how much PED's someone can cram into their body and how well they react to those huge doses. Younger athletes will get on gear without medical overwatch and ruin their physical development by trying to emulate the PED cycles of cycling heroes. Essentially people will be destroying their body for fame - look at body building, specifically how it affects life expectancy and how many young teens are getting on exogenous hormones/SARMs, ruining their natural development.

The standard treatment for Armstrong's cancer included a drug that caused lung inflammation and scarring, so he received an alternative cocktail that was experimental at the time. When all was said and done, one of the doctors had revealed Lance's VO2max prior and after the treatment to illustrate the lack of respiratory system side effects. Although his VO2max was at a professional athlete level, it wasn't nearly high enough for anything beyond a one-day race win here and there and a middle of the pack role in the TdF. That is exactly what Armstrong was known for before he started working with Dr. Ferrari.

So, Was lance taking some kind of secret drug or something, because Tyler seems to think so, He basically said Lance would blow right by them, and when they're all pro-riders that would be unreal to see. Or was Lance just that good? When Lance was on the Joe Rogan show, he basically said he would die cycling, Lance gave %200, you could see it on his face. Yes the drugs gave him confidence, but everyone still has to put in the work. Well, before his cancer you can have a look at his shape before becoming a doping monster. Clearly not a potential to be a Tour de France winner (even less 7 times). I mean look at how fast Indurain seems during TT in comparison. He dropped out of most Tours and was never shining in the mountains...
@shooter7a5 жыл бұрын
Lance was the best. The best at cheating. He took cheating to a higher level. He had the best connections. He came up with the best plans. Yes...Lance was just that good. Go back and watch,...I think it was 1994. Indurain just blows by Lance like he is standing still. In retrospect...Migual was doped to the max...and at that point...Lance was not. Then Lance got sick. He could have died. That frees a person up. It frees them up to not give a shit, and just go for it. That often means being willing to break the rules. What do you have to lose! I mean...you are ALIVE! So when Lance came back from cancer, I think he had a fatalistic perspective. I would be he took more EPO than anyone. I bet he doped his blood thicker than anyone else dare to. So....yes... Lance was "just that good"
@matth15895 жыл бұрын
@@heavydam I agree in part. He was perceived as a classics, one day rider when he arrived in Europe. He didn't have the explosive power to be a sprinter but was also clearly too big to be a great climber and too small to be a great time trialist. He was a jack of all trades and master of none. It seemed clear that he could pick up stage wins but he was never going to win grand tours. That said, it looks like teams were already experimenting with EPO or similar products from the early 90's. Indurain's performance was being ascribed to freakish lung and heart capacity but it turns out that those measures were coming from doctors that have now been linked to the earliest experimentation with EPO in cycling. Essentially, when Lance arrived in Europe the really top guys in the sport were probably already running completely unnatural hematocrit levels. If they hadn't been, Lance might have looked like a more promising general classification rider. Whilst he physically looked like a bit of tweener, he was perceived as a one day rider was that he was getting absolutely pasted in time trials and stage races. It certainly seems from what Lance has said that, at first, he couldn't understand how he could be so far behind so many other riders. Journalists put it down to him being a "one day specialist". Armstrong concluded, correctly as it turned out, that the people who were riding past him like he was standing still must have an unfair advantage. I don't think we can ever be certain what might have happened if the sport had been clean. Did Armstrong get pigeonholed as one-day specialist because that's what his talent was suited to, or because that was all that was left for non-dopers to be? Given his commitment to winning at all costs later in his career, we can be fairly certain that no one would have out worked him and that he would have improved as GC rider over the course of his career, regardless of doping.

I'm here to see what doping look like in pro sport....watching Nadal beating the whole field like they were college players...yet it doesn't ring the bell with people why? I don't know...if everyone had access to the same drog then it was a level field....it disgust me how brazen they are about it....13 times Rolland Garros champ.... beating a guy with such ease who beat everybody else handedly...and I think Djokovic takes ped's too...
The asshole was Armstrong, when this guy beat Armstrong on another team a year or 2 later, Armstrong ratted him out. Armstrong was a cocksucker of a human being, a dickless asshole, nothing more.

agreived. a whole generation of riders denied the chance to win the world's biggest race by a manipulative cunt. Keep the faith, though, fanboys.

If you wipe out all the guys that tested Positive in that period , then Cadel would register 4 TDF wins, if anyone has a right to be pissed it's Cadel !!!

Richard Novodomec everyone was doping, but Armstrong continued to claim innocence while trying to throw everyone under the bus.
