It shouldn't matter. Criticism is part of the game. As a role player; you play good - no one says shit about you, you play like shit - ppl talk shit bout you. Twitter, TNT, ESPN, Bleacher Report, SB Nation, NY Times, NY Post, AM radio stations, local newspapers, tabloids are always criticizing because it's what they are paid to do. Why is it okay for JaVale to make 1.4m and to try to take dinner off other people's plate?(Shaq doesn't come up with hardly any of Shaqtin. That's not how TV works) smdh Shaq is salty af but JaVale just a pussy ass bitch trynna censor some funny ass shit. JaVale got the last laugh in the end anyway being in the final with bonuses and shit but you're not gonna bring that up huh?

What a humble and wise man Shaq turned out to be, I can relate partially to what he speaks about, I'm a very shy introverted man, I'm 6ft6 and 270lbs, it's easy to intimate but it takes a man to respect and care for others.

I was a Marine- and I’m 6’2”, but I’m spindly. I was in so many fights in highschool, won maybe like 1 of them (partially why I became a Marine). But in the Marines, in my last unit was this tank of a human, 6’5” and twice my size- but he looooved to use his size. Played with everyone, threw us all around. Same demeanor as Shaq. The opposite of a gentle giant. It’s weird that to this day though, they remind me of each other. I think Shaq is a bully at heart, he likes to play that size game, to pick on folks that can’t really practically fight back, in his NBA days and even now. But it’s crazy to myself to realize I think this now as a 33yo man, while maybe a year or two ago Shaq just struck me as a nice, quirky, funny giant guy. Never met him irl but somehow I see his persona as more a bully’s now than I ever have. Maybe I’m reading too much into him, or have learned more about him, but he just doesn’t seem like the nicest dude depending on who he’s messing with.
@dmvs-bt1hk
@dmvs-bt1hk Жыл бұрын
It's complex though, you can see that shaq has deep insecurities with his intelligence and size because of his academic days and his propensity for this attitude of playing the size game and 'i'm the best' attitude may all come from this. I think there are lots of people that get agitated at small things and want to provoke fights, usually they're disciplined or beat up young and get that attitude out but being large means less of a chance for that and actually encourages this behaviour even more, the guy you mentioned was probably that but I think shaq may be somewhat disciplined to retain that restraint and positive perception but it still acts out at times, who really knows though.

Man, I've been calling Shaq out for years on his self centred and immature behaviour, yet when he reminisces those nicknames the kids gave him growing up you can really hear that pain in his voice, I'm sure he hide most of that pain as well. Perhaps all of this 'look at me im the best' antics is because deep down hes still that kid carrying that hurt within.

I respect Shaq and appreciate his contributions in the NBA as a player especially his time spent with Los Angeles Lakers being a lifelong fan of the team. However, and this goes for everyone, our self-images tend to be clouded and a bit delusional. Like in this interview how Shaq claims to have been beating a kid up that snitched him off in school and had an epileptic seizure and it transformed him from being a bully to being a class clown as if the "bully" in him ever left when he falsely said, "I WAS always a bully." It never has been a matter of "was," but more accurately he still is and always has been. He clearly hasn't left bullying behind him entirely. He had bullied many teammates including his "little brother" Kobe Bryant. He mocked a young disabled man back in 2014 and was ducking the media when the firestorm erupted and the disabled man said it really hurt that it was Shaq making fun of him, made him the butt of Shaq's joke by posting a side by side photo on the Gram, with Shaq making a face to imitate how the man looks, to which is no fault of his own, he was born that way. Shaq bullies Charles Barkley all the time, mostly in jest but it has not always been in jest, he has even said during the live broadcasts that he wasn't playing with "Chuck." Shaq has bullied many sports journalists throughout the years, and many opponents especially those guarding him, and that comes with the nature of the game, but Shaq set out to emasculate many of them, not just show them up or make them pay for their having disrespected him. Yeah he clowns around a lot and it's funny as hell especially when he's roasting people at times. So, sure, he may have embraced his inner nerd at some point in high school, but Shaq isn't keeping it real if he really wants us to believe he still isn't a bit of bully. Didn't his ex-wife even accuse him of bullying her and their children? Perhaps it comes with the territory with his enormous freakish size, big booming voice, and intimidating glares and threats to thump a motherfucker when they get crazy with him, but he's not about to bullshit me that he still isn't a bully. And let me be clear about this, I don't necessarily think his bullying makes him a terrible dude, it doesn't, he's got a lot more admirable qualities about him, but this isn't about those qualities, it's about his claim that he WAS a bully seemingly implying that he still isn't and he is. With that said, the bullying still is not a pleasant type of behavior for anyone either.
