Thank you so much for posting these great videos! I have Been an amateur photographer for years with a particular interest in landscape photography. I have always struggled with sufficient depth of field in some of my images. That lead me to researching tilt/shift lenses for my Nikon camera. Your explanation and review of this lens has really helped. I just want you to know how much I appreciate your effort in explaining this lens.

Thank you, I may get one for use on forest. I have the other three PC lneses. Just not pleased that I cannot use my Lee 100mm ND grad filter on it.

@1:30 that tree, could you let see the position from the camera and tripod how you make those 13? pictures? I got problems with the outer corners, no clue how to do that. Thank you for the very learning and calm way of explaining the 19mm lens. I did make some beautifull pictures with it, and it's a very sharp lens on my Nikon D850.

I hope this answers your question. If not ask again. When you rotate the 19mm lens it clicks into position very 90º but you don't have to use it only on the clicks. So with a combination of partial rotation and various amounts of shift movements you can position the front of the lens in quite a few places that can be seen in the composited image of the tree. The lens was placed in 13 different overlapping positions and the 13 individually captured images were merged in Photoshop. Please take a look at my next video (#3) where it goes into a little more detail about how those movements work.

Glad to see Im not the only one who loves the manfrotto geared heads and hates the manfrotto QR system. I wish they offered the 405/410 with an arca swiss clamp instead of having to stack them.

Good observation. I have two of the Manfrotto heads so you could say I feel twice as strongly about this issue. I looked the Manfrotto plates on pretty tight so fortunately the only problem I have is size and weight. (And the added cost of two mounting plates instead of one I guess.)

That's exactly why I never seriously looked at the Manfrotto head and went directly for the Arca-Swiss Cube when I needed a geared head. Tripods are already heavy enough (even carbon fiber) and top-heavy (which contributes to instability) without having to stack plates and add yet more weight (and causes for failure) on top...
