That was an awesome video !! I remember riding with Poppa on his John Deere 55R in the mid 60's ! I'd level out the rice in the hopper. I was 5 years old, next year I was on a tractor, and grain cart, a Moline G VI with a hand clutch !! 😁😉👍👍✌ 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

Great piece of history. My grandfather had a Massey Harris. It was a game changer back in the day.

@Ian Hotson My dad had I think an older 760 and later i think a 860. If i remember correctly. He said best machines he ever owned.

The green John Deere is what my family had, spent a lot of hours on that machine and driving the Chevy grain truck to the granary. Long dusty days.

My dad still used those old combines in the late1960s and early 1970s. They needed constant repairs by then, but new combines we're just too darn expensive.

I lived on a farm at Felt Idaho for a little while. About twenty miles away. 55's had a unique sound when they were running. Even when they were going behind the trees I could tell the difference between a 55 and my uncles Gleaners or Massey-Fergusons.

Yup the climate was different back then.
@gsmscrazycanuck98144 жыл бұрын
@@tacodoritos691 yes it was. More heat and fewer volcanic eruptions. Also more solar activity. We are finally getting some heat this year. Nothing like I remember in the 70s, but better than the last twenty years.

Like the video. I wonder what the barrel on top of the canopy on the Massey Harris was for? Water?
@AlanBaum4 жыл бұрын
The hollow barrel had a fan in it, that blew cleaner air from above to help keep the chaff away from the driver. I'm glad you liked the video.

Any idea what the name of the sound track is? It’s kinda catchy.
