@giantjak2 жыл бұрын
@@chilecayenne KEH camera generally gives a decent price mark for those things. Or you could look at sold listings on ebay to get an idea for what you might expect to pay. Personally I wouldn't spend $100 usd on a 220 back, the $60 - $80 range is what I'd pay for them, though if you wait long enough you can find them for $50. (A common trend for 220 backs is to be half the price of a 120 backs, same rule applies with my Rollei)

I believe the ISO of Cinestill Film is higher than the Kodak Vision3 stock it comes from is not necessarily because of the RemJet, but primarily because of the differences of the ECN-2 vs C41 process. I remember seeing this somewhere on the APUG section of the Photrio forums. Edit: Analog Resurgence just did a video and mentioned this as one of the reasons why its rated at 800 ISO
@yetanotherbassdude2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I think Ribsy has done some direct comparisons of developing 800T in both C41 and ECN2, and the C41 negs came out a lot denser for the same exposure settings and subject.
@GregoryVeizades2 жыл бұрын
Yep, you nailed it. Film speeds are rated for their native processes.

Believe it or not 400D is actually Ektar repackaged with Remjet added, and then removed
@PhotographerVA2 жыл бұрын
Solid move by cinestill lol
@DixonLu2 жыл бұрын
Sorry, not. Etkar is an ISO 100 photographic film, not a motion picture film with Remjet like Vision3 250D. They specifically claimed that "this new film is based on advanced technology found in motion picture emulsions". So if we take their words at face value, it is neither Ektar nor Vision3 250D. I'd like to see whether there'd be halation on the 4x5 since no motion picture film is available in that size. If it is 250D, we should be impressed that Cinestill can get Kodak to make a batch of 4x5.

I believe it isn't the removal of the remjet layer that changes the iso/ei, but the fact that it's being cross processed in c-41 that makes it seem more light sensitive. I heard it also changes the latitude and more of brings the darker areas up a little more, so there's less dynamic range, as it effectively slides the lower end up to brighter. Idk if that makes much sense but it's my best explanation lol
@areareare99532 жыл бұрын
I used to use film back in the day (when it was all we had) and have been thrilled by Millennials and Zs bringing it all back, and creating new stuff like Lomo. You're right... removing the anti-halation layer doesn't do anything to sensitivity unless maybe you used a mirror as a film pressure plate? Vision3 250D, as a motion picture stock, is intended to be processed ECN-2. If you shot CS400D at original box speed and developed ECN-2, you'd get the flat motion picture negative. CInestill has you overexpose 2/3 a stop for processing in C-41 to create more contrast. Same goes for 500T / Cinestill 800T
