Gram always represents all HBCU bands well when they are chosen. They NEVER disappoint. Outside of the SWAC they are beloved because truth be told it's not the SWAC MENTALITY that prevails when it comes to being chosen. If they're living off of the past then so is every other HBCU band out there that's recognized outside of the HBCU world because after it's Grambling and FAMU that put HBCUs on the map. Don't hate, congratulate and when other bands are chosen......appreciate!!!!.

Thank you kingofkings318 for those remarks that feel short of those fitting of a king. Typically the performance guideline prevent the Baddest Band in the land from "showing out". When I was a student at Gram.. I watched this band do things in practice that other bands only hope to achieve. And we won't even go into how they step at the step shows. Grow a little perspective..

GSU is not chosen because they don't have "SWAC Mentatlity." If it wasn't GSU or FAMU, it would have been someone. They were the ones who happened to be recognized first. I don't know if was the right person saw them or the right person at GSU knew the right person outside GSU, but GSU just has a known name. No matter what form of entertainment you're in, usually people outside your world only know about a handful of your members.

Not hating on GSU. It's just no one else does that. I can say UAPB was better this week. Someone from GSU will say " well UAPB wasn't in the first Super Bowl." It's arrogance. I have no problem with the recognition. I want any and all us to have it. People tell me to shutup about improving SWAC football. IF the teams are better, more people come, thus more see bands. I want to be able to go anywhere and say "my cousin in band at GSU/JSU/SU" and it be like saying my cousin travels with Jay Z

GSU people to act like some committee really sits around, looks at various band tapes, and chooses GSU. They're going to use whomever someone else used or who they've seen on TV. Being outside they band world, GSU might be only band Obama really knows about. That's not to knock GSU, but GSU people need to stop using "we get invited to stuff" excuse when they're criticized. When people criticize the BOOM, we don't say "well we got invited to Motown, Image Award, Senior Bowl or other performances.
