I cannot wait for Grammarly to get bought out by Google or Microsoft so that it becomes "free" and possibly more innovative. With Google's vast amount of information and artificial intelligence, I believe it would be a lot smarter at identifying errors and writing more coherently.

I've been using Grammarly for years, mainly at work. When I retired, I continued to use it for my writing projects. I noticed, however, that Grammarly doesn't "get" fiction or slang. It's better now, but we've had arguments about word use when I've been using it for creative writing. I just started with ProWritingAid because I have Scrivener, but it seems to be much more complex than Grammarly. That said, it seems to understand the vagaries of fictional/creative writing a little better. I think that for any serious writer, using both wouldn't be a stretch, budget allowing.

For instance, do they just check words, or can they see that, for example, one of my book's many text boxes or headings is off center a bit - just by comparing it with all the instances where similar headings were placed differently? In other words, how intelligent are these apps?

Curious what KZbin/Googles cut is on your membership program? Does membership remove ads from this channel? Along a similar lines, if I get KZbin TV or premium to skip then everending ads, do you get a cut of that fee when I watch your video? Looking to support creators, but it seems that KZbin has stepped into the world of evil.
@DaleLRoberts
@DaleLRoberts 4 жыл бұрын
Memberships = 70% creator cut Ads are an option for memberships exclusive videos. I shut them off for the member exclusive videos. The membership doesn’t waive ads on the normal videos. If they had the option, I’d use it. That way members can get right to the content since they’re already supporting me. Premium watches = ambiguous answer based on watch time Ads = to my understanding it’s an equal split, but ads vary based on the content. And I’m not sure how it’s evil to monetize their platform people use for free. So viewers have to watch ads to support creators and KZbin. Bear in mind, something has to pay to maintain and build out the infrastructure. Nothing evil about that. It can’t simply exist by people watching videos or uploading videos completely for free. It’s a bad business model and there’d be no way to make it work in the long run.

I am not a native English speaker and I am translating text from my native language to English, I need a program to help me with "awkward" and wrong sentences. I am not expecting from a program to translate for me but I need to know if a phrase is just not right. which one would you recommend? I am not in a very good financial condition and I can buy only one of them right now, can you make a suggestion?

I am leaning towards PWA over Grammarly - 1)Grammarly is Ukraine based, so security is a concern. Easier to use at different companies, especially ITAR ones. 2)PWA has lifetime purchase (although they jacked up their prices a bunch from last time I looked as they build reputation). 3) more control over what to pay attention. My reluctance is that PWA has a wonkier interface on correction last time I checked. PWA also seems slow in adding new words (like TikTok) and features.

Great insights! I totally forgot to add the part about lifetime access for PWA. I'll be ponying up the money for that. It's great software. I imagine in due time they'll have the wonkiness ironed out.

Thank you, Brother, for your explains, I am using free versions of both, but Grammarly for me is very decent. I’d recommend ProWritingAid since it’s a bit cheaper and has all the features you need. I know when I was in college, I had to guard every last penny. So, if you’re wanting to save money, but get coverage, then ProWritingAid is for you. I highly recommend if you want to save money over the long haul, get the lifetime access. It’s more upfront, but at least you won’t have monthly payments to deal with anymore.

6:50-7:10 Yeah, Grammarly has those same problems. As far as grammar goes, it has this major issue with proper word misuses, which forces the writer to correct those issues even if they don't want to. Grammarly can have this issue where the program deletes your writing thanks to its poor integration on sites, specifically KZbin. Lastly, the program misinterprets the tone of the writer. For example, if I were to write about something negative about your appearance or something then Grammarly will translate the tone of the writing as being "neutral" or "joyful". Your opinion is your opinion. Objectively, however, it would have been safer to categorize both Pro-Writing Aid and Grammarly under the same boat as being extremely wonky.
