I've been using Grammarly for years, mainly at work. When I retired, I continued to use it for my writing projects. I noticed, however, that Grammarly doesn't "get" fiction or slang. It's better now, but we've had arguments about word use when I've been using it for creative writing. I just started with ProWritingAid because I have Scrivener, but it seems to be much more complex than Grammarly. That said, it seems to understand the vagaries of fictional/creative writing a little better. I think that for any serious writer, using both wouldn't be a stretch, budget allowing.

Memberships = 70% creator cut Ads are an option for memberships exclusive videos. I shut them off for the member exclusive videos. The membership doesn’t waive ads on the normal videos. If they had the option, I’d use it. That way members can get right to the content since they’re already supporting me. Premium watches = ambiguous answer based on watch time Ads = to my understanding it’s an equal split, but ads vary based on the content. And I’m not sure how it’s evil to monetize their platform people use for free. So viewers have to watch ads to support creators and KZbin. Bear in mind, something has to pay to maintain and build out the infrastructure. Nothing evil about that. It can’t simply exist by people watching videos or uploading videos completely for free. @@DaleLRoberts Yeah, sure. I asked the question because they say Grammarly is better for non-fiction writing, like reports or other formal papers. On the other hand, PWA is better for fiction writing. You mentioned that too, I guess.

Writing tools for lazy people. Buy a dictionary, a thesaurus and strengthen your own inner copy editor!

Yes, but you'll notice even your first sentence criticizing writing tools was improper. "Writing tools ARE for lazy people." You didn't include a verb. Come on, man! If you're going to cast stones, at least make sure your approach is flawless.

6:50-7:10 Yeah, Grammarly has those same problems. As far as grammar goes, it has this major issue with proper word misuses, which forces the writer to correct those issues even if they don't want to. Grammarly can have this issue where the program deletes your writing thanks to its poor integration on sites, specifically KZbin. Lastly, the program misinterprets the tone of the writer. For example, if I were to write about something negative about your appearance or something then Grammarly will translate the tone of the writing as being "neutral" or "joyful". Your opinion is your opinion. Objectively, however, it would have been safer to categorize both Pro-Writing Aid and Grammarly under the same boat as being extremely wonky.

Galahad Vlogs it’ll flag it. Also, you’ll need to adjust your goals and the settings for different types of writing. If you have the free version, you’re gonna get some decent tips but it’s limited. If you’re hard pressed for seeing results with it, there’s a million other services out there. Try our ProWritingAid, Hemingway, WhiteSmoke, Ginger, and the list goes on.

Definitely Grammarly. I've tried both and now only use the big G. I'm sure that there may be situations where/when ProWritingAid might have a slight advantage - but they would be so rare that you'd never really miss them if you are a steady writer with a fairly good handle on basic grammar usage at a high school and college level.
