There are a lot of misconceptions about Song of the Year and the Grammys in general: 1. Only Recording Academy voting members (12,000+) are eligible to vote for the Grammy Awards. This means that Grammy winners are determined by artists, musicians, songwriters, producers, engineers, mixers, etc. Basically their peers. To help ensure the quality of the voting, members are directed to vote only in their areas of expertise; they may vote in up to ten categories across up to three genre fields plus the four categories of the General Field (Record Of The Year, Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year, and Best New Artist.) 2. Grammy awards have nothing to do with popularity. The recording industry professionals that vote have a different viewpoint than do fans. 3. Song of the Year is a songwriters' award and is based solely on the music and lyrics. The artist, producers, etc. aren't taken into consideration. Many in the general public get caught up in what they perceive as the importance of the lyrics when giving their opinion on Song of the Year. Lyrics by themselves are just poetry, but an instrumental song is still a song. A good song is a balance between the lyrics and music. People should take the opportunity to listen to the music without the lyrics and then read the lyrics by themselves. Many songs with strong lyrics have really weak music and vice versa. 4. A not so secret, secret is that some artists that receive songwriting awards had very little to do with the actual songwriting process. They are given a song to record, at the minimum change one word, and are then given a songwriting credit. Another scenario is purchasing lyrics outright from a "ghostwriter" and then putting their name on it.

The issues us Armys have with the Grammys is the fact that they’re xenophobic and want clout. They made us think throughout the whole day leading up to it that BTS would win, they laughed in our faces the day before and had the nerve to tell us to and I quote “watch it all from noon” whilst laughing. They wanted clout because they know how big our fandom is. They also over hyped them and gave hints acting like they were the ones who would win. Not only that but they put them last after repeatedly using the classic award show move of “BTS coming next”. The boys had sat there with makeup and dressed up from 2am in Korea and they weren’t even told when they would be on, they waited with us and still went live after the show at very earlier hours of the morning being tired as fuck trying to comfort US even though it’s them who should’ve been comforted. The Grammys have been called out multiple times by big names for being corrupt, giving the awards to just anyone who might not even deserve it, giving them away to those who bribe and pay for the Grammy itself. The Grammys isnt a reflection on the music that is put out and despite dynamite being the best candidate for the song, it lost to a song that didn’t even deserve it. As you said, Taylor also lost and our fandom thought that if we didn’t get it, she would but she didn’t which is even more of a snub. So no, it’s not literally about us not being “ungrateful”. There are so many factors that people like you don’t know but you oh so easily are here to call us ungrateful and fucking toxic. Know the full story and reasons why first before jumping in on it acting like you know everything. Also, a little side note, they have now made a new category for world music and putting every single genre into it which isn’t fair at all and shows that they don’t even think non-English speaking artists are in the same category as Western artists. Its xenophobic and the fact they put all the POC categories in the before show too instead of the main show and got a white man out there making “jokes” and not even pronouncing names right which was incredibly disrespectful? Yeah, it’s a fucking joke. THIS is why why’re mad.
