I read an article that said Beyonce actually asked to do the performance. So without knowing what actually happened to cause Beyonce to sing rather than Ledisi it is hard to say. But I will say this the grammy's gets enough views every year that they didn't have to rob Ledisi of that moment. That was completely out of order!!!!

And the bottom line is that the song was up for an award for LEDISI, not Beyonce. It was just wrong.

That makes no sense! Ledisi is an incredible singer, song writer, etc. I have seen her many time live in concert & she gives you 110%, is very real & deserves to be heard! Someone needs to apologize. Watch out for Karma!

Beyonce asked to perform this song, totally overlooking the fact that it was performed by someone else in a movie that is still in theaters. She intentionally stole Ledisi's shine and messed the song up in the process. Thank goodness for KZbin. People can listen to Ledisi's version from the film, realize her potential and see where the Grammy's made a HUGE mistake in letting Beyoncé have her way.

How can you be certain that it happened that way? The song is OWNED by no one except Warner Bros., I believe. Granted, Ledisi performed it on the soundtrack and did a creditable job, but the movie, unfortunately, wasn't highly celebrated, therefore the accompanying soundtrack wasn't. John Legend and Common were clearly the exception. Those people are associated with Beyonce; plus the musical director is said to have been the same person who produced the DREAMGIRLS soundtrack. (Another connection to Beyonce.) All of that coupled with her being Grammy royalty, it wouldn't be surprising if she's allowed to do whatever she wants but I'm not convinced that it happened that way. If that information came from a credible source, I'd be more inclined to believe it but it hasn't. Anyway, that water passed under the bridge weeks ago. #overit

I understand that its about the ratings but that moment belonged to Ledisi. Beyoncé, her performance of that song was not sincere in my honest opinion. It was too choreographed, therefore it came off as fake. I like Beyonce a lot but something was missing as she was singing and it was her feelings in it. Anybody with some sense I know would agree with me. Yeah, she can sing and hit notes but that means nothing if the feeling ain't there.

Imagine this: Ledisi sitting in the audience watching some other (overrated, overexposed) "artist" singing the song that SHE was just rehearsing because SHE was nominated for a Grammy. Adding insult to injury, said overexposed, tired artist beats HER in a category that she probably should no longer be apart of. Just sayin'. The right thing to do? John Legend: "Hey Beyonce, thanks for the offer, but Ledisi has been rehearsing hard, preparing for this performance and we're already on the schedule. Maybe we can write a verse for you on our nominated song instead."

It was my understanding that NO ONE was going to perform the song anyway. No one OFFICIALLY has said anything regarding that part of the story. Could that be why Beyonce WASN'T coming to the show in the first place? Because of some conflict? In the aftermath, a rehearsal video surfaced from Beyonce FOR the song, which suggests that there was already a plan in place for her to perform "Precious Lord". In either case, OF COURSE The Grammys wanted Beyonce on hand, not on to present; but perform as well. As mentioned, it was a strategic move to get those viewers. MTV did the exact same thing months before. People want to get up in their feelings but it's not THEIR show. Anyone with any type f business sense knows that decisions have to be made all the time for said business's best interest. Not having full detail on how ANYTHING went down exactly, it seems like the whole scenario was created by those who do it best; those on the OUTSIDE looking in, oblivious to what the realities are.

Sadly and unfortunately, you may be right ... but that decision did nothing to the "over-rated' Beyonce's lack of feeling she displayed in that iconic song!!! Bad decision all around if you check all the media sites ... 99% are unfavorable ratings!!!!

Beyonce is a horrible person! She has enough exposure. I'm glad I didn't watch the Grammys but I doubt the 20 or so million people who did watch would have tuned out when Ledisi began to sing.
@urbanqid96049 жыл бұрын
She intentionally did that. She out shine any musician to obtain her "Queen bey" status
