On 18 and 19 Oct 2019 Grampa's Jeep, the CJ2A, had his first Midwest wheeling experience with a group of mostly flat fender jeep friends at the Tuttle Creek ORV Park near Manhattan, Kansas. Some of the toughest and funnest wheeling we've ever done.
Thanks to Jeff Petrowich, Brian Evans and Randie Harris for contributing video.
See more great flat fender jeep action on the KZbin channels jpetrowich, tecovas, and jeepevans.

I live in Manhattan, KS. Tuttle is my playground. Love it out there. There are trails for stock vehicles up to competition full-framed buggies. Wish I could have seen you guys there, I watch all of your videos, yours and Jeff's and JeepEvans. My '48 is getting new axles, but hoping to have them under her in the next month or so.

Grampa’s jeep just keeps showing us how it’s done... if you come to Colorado, I’d love to make a video with you. CJ2A vs JK, pretty sure I’d lose!

Grandpa Stan, do you drive your Jeep to these locations from home, or do you haul the ol’ CJ to the venue and then rock crawl it? Was wondering how it’s typically done and what type of considerations I should have when I go off-road on my JKU 3 hours away from my home.

And Grandpa Stan, so odd that I visually know you’ve taken on far more challenging rocks in Moab but obviously something about these Kansas rock forms are making it more challenging? Curious.

Angelo Maniquis Hey Angelo, 1st question. Unless I am running a trail within an hour or so if home I trailer my flat fender to the trail. The stock 60 horsepower engine makes it difficult to keep up with modern traffic safely and the wear and tear on the old parts, including my body, makes riding in the air conditioned F-150 a much nicer option. A JKU though, is a horse of a different color. You can keep up with traffic just fine and probably have heated seats to boot. 😋 My flat fender doesn’t weigh much so it trailers very easily behind my F-150. I suspect that you would need a bigger tow rig to trailer a JKU. If you drive your rig to the trail, you need to keep in mind while driving the trails, that you have to drive home in the trail rig and if you break something that can ruin your trip in a hurry. If you trailer to the trail, you just have to get your broken rig to the trailer but you can still get home. Trade offs on everything. 2nd question. The terrain in Kansas is much different than the red rock of Utah. Driving on the red rock is like driving on sandpaper. The traction is amazing. In Kansas everything is a little damp or dusty. This makes the rocks much more slippery and harder to climb, it’s still fun, just different.
