Thanks for sharing. I was thinking about doing something like this, but I wonder how safe (or unsafe) it is. I have race experience (on gravel) but when I sometimes see youtube videos of criterium racing, I get the shivers. What do you think, is it safer than crit racing, or similar?

A Grand Fondo is in my feeling safer as opposed to a criterium. Criteriums have very small space and it's a real race for everyone. A Gran Fondo is more or less a tour, but a very competitive one. With an even bigger peloton, going up and down hills with also inexperienced riders. There will be crashes... but with thousands of them... you do not have to fight for your spot and you can easier ride safer. You will lose spots with it... but you can ride safer and will not end up alone. In a criterium that is almost impossible, you will end up riding in last position if you don't fight for your spot and that is basically a bad situation. So a criterium is much harder work and more shivers imo.

Thx! GoPro Hero 9 black. 4k@25fps. The original footage is even tiny bit sharper; for the lay-over of data, the original video is re-encoded en therefor some quality is lost, but for this one I used very good settings (very slow encoding), thx for noticing!

I think so, yes! At least the winner in my category. This was him: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5eYhZWnm82thMk. ANd his brother won in 35-40 category I not mistaken. They are beasts! Lots of content on their channel. Belgium champion!

Thanks! True. In the 70s. Helps a lot on the flats. When hilly, off course the watts/kg matter. With my weight I need big watts to keep up then! 😉

Niet zo'n goede koers gereden als u heh. :) Proficiat! Op naar trento? Uw broer (denk ik) is makkelijk herkenbaar in zijn tenue (tijdens het skippen). Ik had mezelf inderdaad al met enige regelmaat gezien in uw beelden. :) Voor een eerste fondo, best tevreden. Lastig koersen met 2000 man en ook nog eens niet starten met eigen categoriën, maar gewoon de linten losgooien... Toch erg jammer. Enig idee waarom ze dat doen??

@@henzelracesbikes Hallo , Nee we gaan niet naar Trento , ik kan best goed fietsen maar een berggeit ben ik niet en dit parcours is te lastig . waarom we apart starten en toch ook weer samen is me een raadsel , traditie misschien ? Ofwel doe je alles in reeksen en dan ook de uitslag of alles samen . Ik sta pas 72ste terwijl ik win . Al was het samen met mijn broertje koersen best leuk .
