I called in to see her today, at the home where she now stays , I took her a couple of books and some magazines , i put my coat over the chair ,i said hey gran it's me i'm here i'm just making sure you got everything you need , We sat and talked for a while you know she got the most amazing smile , and I told her about all the things that i'd been up to, well she said it looks like rain and suddenly she seemed to change and with a distant stare she asks who are you. Well it felt like a arrow through the heart , those words they hit so hard, and it seems to happen a lot more frequently, wish that there was something more that I could do , to stop what she is going through but I can't, so I just say hey gran it's me. She looked around the room and said my grandsons coming soon , he's gonna bring some books he knows I like to read , He might bring his brother Ben ,it sure would be nice to see them again, together just us three , well We've been here before no point explaining anymore , not with her fading memory , she's getting worse, of that i'm sure , Ben passed way back in 94 , I have to remind her every time we meet. And it still comes as a massive blow , she's fading fast and I don't know , what it is that i'm supposed to do, I'm looking out now at the rain, beating hard on the window pane , and again she asks who are you. Now i'm scared, for in the passage of time , will I start to lose my mind , will all my memories become a foggy blur , and who knows if that will be so and if it happens I won't know , i'll just be an empty shell like her , Well it felt like a arrow through the heart , these words they hit so hard, and it seems to happen a lot more frequently, wish that there was something more that I could do , to stop what she is going through but I can't, so I just say hey gran it's me.

Thankfully my gran never suffered with dementia but this really hit hard. I can imagine what it would have been like if she had having met people with the disease. It's the thing I fear most after death. *This needs a video* ❤️

this is one of the most talented songs i have ever heard, i have no words to express how much this touched me. for me this is not just another song!!... in fact I believe that talent in the world lives a lie today, if talent in the world were truly appreciated and without superfluous media, Frank would already have been universally recognized as one of the best songwriters in the world. although I believe it will heve to happen sooner or later. amazing sound Frank, thanks for this moment. 🙏

Hi Frank. A poignant and touching track. My grandpa had dementia; at first we thought he was just going deaf but it slowly became apparent there was more to it; he'd throw his lunch in the fire and rant, then be in tears minutes later realising what he'd done when he had a brief moment of lucidity. Those covers you do? Keep writing songs this good, someone famous will be covering yours soon! ✌👍

@@FrankWatkinson thank you sir, your music is very soothing, I love playin your songs they're like soul soup. Edit: I wanted to apologize, I posted this in my half asleep stupor. I just wanted to add: My aunt passed away just a couple years ago (She had cancer), my dad forced me not to go to the funeral because of Covid. Got mad when I said I didn't give a shit and wanted to go, only to find out my uncle and cousin were both wondering where my brother and I were when they went up (we lived like 5+ hrs away at the time). Your music helps soothe the heartache that lingers in me. I found out before she passed that she started forgetting my uncle, it pains me because she was my closest aunt in my entire family. I bless you with good health and wellness. Forever grateful for finding your songs

my grandma has dementia we get about 10-30 calls from her we answer sometimes but its heavy really heavy. i remember the day my grandpa died and how hard that was on all of us. i remember my dad cried in the car when grandma (his mom) was starting to show sign of dementia and we dropped her off at home from the hospital on a 3-strike rule if it threatens her safety. That was broken in a month and more so as time goes on. i dont want to die of old age. forgetting those i love. i rather die with a gun in my hand knowing who i love and what i love.
