My favorite feature about GT2 was the bhp limitation. In the later installments, it was easy to win since any bhp was allowed. GT6 tried to fix this but failed since some cars break it. For example the SRT. GT2 was a ton of fun because you weren't overpowered.

Time for my usual wall of text comment about things I can point out, or add to, or correct when wrong :P To note for the Tom's T020 / TRD2000GT combo. Whereas the TRD is Turbo, the Tom's is N/A. Which makes the Tom's more impressive in terms or real life mechanics :) (and useful in the NA tuned cup) Also to note, the Blue/Silver Race Modification for the 1997 MR2 GT-S was first meant to be for the TRD2000GT is it is its RM in GT2 demos. (It also had a standalone named Tsuchiya MR2, as it also was a GT300 race car driven by K. Tsuchiya) As for the Nismo 400R Prece"i"ding model, it also has 500rpm less in revs than the final one, with a little less power, but less power loss at high range. About the Demio, it's not the racing exhaust, but the ENTIRE turbo line of sounds. See, GT2 engines can have 2 sets of exhaust sounds. One for turbo cars, and one for naturally aspirated ones, and the game switches automatically depending on the aspiration type. And the Demio A-spec for whatever reason, doesn't have any Turbo sounds at all. Something to note, every engine sound has to have the 2 sets, so when a car doesn't use a particular engine's turbo or NA sounds, they are replaced with a tiny sound file with a straight line frequency sound in them. Hence the UFO. Ah this needs correcting from me. The unused Skyline 4-door Fujitsubo racing modification is NOT the Autech Nismo RM, but unused for the regular R33 Skyline GT-R 4door that you can buy in the used dealership at Nissan. Internally, this RM's name is "n2r4r", the "r" of which mean RM, while the Skyline 4-door is "n2r4n" with "n" for normal. The Autech Nismo is "n2rnn" on the other hand, and a race mod for it would therefore be named "n2rnr". Ah right, about the 2 Concept Car variants (normal and LM) they are mistakenly programmed as MR, when in fact they are FR. About the dual Mugen CRX Pro.2 you can win. I believe personally that one of them (most likely the ont that's not in the 80s sports car cup) was supposed to be replaced by the unused Mugen S2000 that's present in the game's files. I slightly diagree with the palette swap about the Xanavi Silvia... but i'm being picky. It has a textured and not (albeit not very well made) 3D diffuser at the back, while the Daishin lacks the set of canards up front. A different hood shape (1 less 'blade' long) and an additional ducktail 'lip' spoiler on the boot/trunklid. But like I said, i'm nitpicking, I also like the Xanavi's colors more :p You say that the Arta Zexel R34 has less power than Unisia Jecs.... and well that's false. The Unisia Jecs and all R34 JGTC Skylines have 702hp (which is unfortunate as a lot of late game events are limited to 690hp.... It's the R33 Kure and Zexel that have less power. Speaking of the UJ R33, it has shorter ratios compared to other Skylines in its category, same for the 1998 Mugen NSX GT. I wonder why though... About the Escort and its weight, yeah it could... but it's within the regulations for the newly-created WRC category back then. The Group A was lighter however. Ah the Toyota Altezza LM... The very last non-hidden car I didn't know about in GT2 because I never got it. I learned of it around 2010 when I replayed GT2 through emulation haha As always though, nice informative video!

When I got it right the Mr2 would change from red to white the turbo gauge would just spin around and I’d be able to go anywhere from 2-350+ mph I could steer at that speed so I’d just kept along the wall. your screen resolution makes everything look squished down flat lol. tip: most prize cars are very lackluster in performance. don't be sad if you can't get them all, because the garage is limited to 100 cars anyway. game is so fun however, I'm gonna run thru it all again :-)

The Dodge concept car from GT1 was pure gold. I won s many championships with its legendary handling. I can't recall if I won it in the GT2 License tests or not. Thanks for the awesome informative video!

Lancia stratos always scared me as a kid. I don't know, there's something unsettling with that car..

We’ll stick with oversquare mid-engined cars and nominate Lancia’s iconic Stratos. This is a car with a 2180mm wheelbase. A Kia Picanto has a 2400mm wheelbase. The road cars had a modest 140kW but in full Group 5 trim, the Stratos was good for 420kW. The competition car was designed around one man, diminutive works driver Sandro Munari. In his hands, the Stratos won the Monte Carlo Rally in 1975, 1976 and 1977 amongst other big wins, but the car required such a skill level that many drivers tried and failed to master it. Björn Waldegård was about the only other factory hotshoe who could get to grips with the spiky Stratos. It wasn’t a lasting relationship though. He ignored team orders and beat Munari in the 1976 San Remo Rally and was promptly sacked. Driving a road Stratos is an exercise in commitment and throttle balance. It’s the only rear-wheel drive car I can think of where the back wheels toe out, so it has hyper-sharp responses on the way into a corner. Get on the throttle a fraction too quickly or back off sharply and you’ll be doing a lot of twirling. That rapid response from the rear suspension is balanced by dementedly slow steering at three and a quarter turns lock-to-lock. Its reputation is fully deserved

The other day I saw a Stratos and took a pic, never imagined I would find one here in Argentina lol

@@jadz684z not exactly, I think it was more of the car's jagged edges and unnatural appearance compared to its peers of the time.

I find it more enjoyable and satisfying to unlock hidden cars by winning races instead of making all cars available to drive so easily or buy them whether by in game credits or your money

21:47 This here is my most used car in the GT2 end-game because god, how much could I say of how I love Nissan Skyline R33. It's imo the best Skyline there is and the most beautiful one there is. Also, the understeer it bears is the great aspect of Unisia Jecs Skyline cuz it forces me to learn how to tune car for the first time in GT2 to make the car more oversteer-ish, as I love to drift during the race. A very hard trick, however it's possible to be done.

26:23 ANOTHER BEST CAR HERE, THE DRAG MASTER! I would be driving this car all day in tracks if it weren't for the terrible handling. However, I did try to beat some I-A cup featuring Red Rock Valley and manage to win the race! It's a great car for long track, but you can make up for the time loss in turning as you are 30 secs in front of everyone

In all of my life, i wonder where the Stratos was given to when i finish ALL the game's races, even the event races on the dealerships. But since Lancia didn't had one, i always wondered where you can get it. Thou, i still don't like it was a 50/50 chance behind an endurance race.

Back before we had to wait weekly/monthly for "prize cars" and updates that could include new cars to the game (and not just blocked behind the "play-to-win" in gaming data)

I haven't played this game in so long. I wish I had played it more as a kid! For the random prize cars, would it better to just win a race, see what you get, then reset in order for a shot at the car you want?

I have many happy memories of the Toyota GT-One 99 race car. The moment I saw it in the demo, I wanted it and all that hard work on the S licence was well worth it as I won a lot of races easily with that car.

The R30 racing skyline (won in the 80s car champ) is IMO the best car in races with 591 bhp cap (huge downforce and nothing beats it from 3rd gear up, wheelspin only on 1st gear with a bit longer gearing, low top speed of 300kmh so no test course tracks), the concept car LM edition is best for me at least, for NA tuned cup and the 542bhp limit international races, Unisia Skyline was used for Turbo tuned race on Test Course, due to high top speed (over 370kmh, beating the 180drag that goes around 350). And personally any uncapped race was dominated by the Escudo pikes peak edition (test course top speed 402kmh, although the 180 drag did 466, unbelievable handling, just looks ridiculous with that rear wing). Overall most of prize cars were useless, like the TVR speed 12 had unbelievable amount of wheelspin.

The rally cars, they also become available in the Arcade Mode Disc. Theres no point trying to get rally cars in GT Mode. As the CR-X LM Edition (obtainable in IB Licence) can defeat every rally event, (except the pikes peak events when facing against an actual pikes peak car).
@koya72734 жыл бұрын
Tvr cerbera lm edition is one of the best handling cars in the game.
