Since I had nothing better to do (Summer vacations here), I decided to go through all 1110 car entries (one for each individual model present in the game's GT2.VOL file) and take note of all car names as they show up in the different regions (NTSC-J, NTSC-U/C and PAL) as well as labels and other things that may differ depending of the version you play. I came across some interesting info that would be nice to take note of: 1:30 - This soft top Elise is, for some reason, a placeholder for what would be the RM of the Motorsport Elise. The idea was scrapped and the body was left as it is now. 1:54 - The D-Rights MX-5 has no label in the NTSC-J version, just like the Silvia. 2:29 - Its body code (ul40r) suggests that it was originally intended to be a Plymouth, but somehow ended up as a GT40. 6:50 - Like the GT40 Mark III, this AMG E55 was originally intented to be an European Ford, judging by its body code (efnon). 15:04 - The RM of the Exxon "2000GT GT" has, for some reason, no label in the NTSC-J version. The road version has the "Toyota 2000GT" label from the Esso variant. 23:17/23:43 - Both the Integra LS and GS are hidden body-only cars. 24:17/24:46/25:36 - All these Acura RMs are hidden. 26:27 - Apparently the NTSC-J v1.0 version has the same RM as the Honda NSX Type-R, but with Acura logos. 27:36/28:01 - Same fate as most Acura Integra RMs. 28:19/28:41 - These 200SXs aren't available in NTSC-J (body-only, like in NTSC-U/C), only in PAL. 29:05 - This car is known as the Altezza AS200 in NTSC-J and as the Lexus IS in NTSC-U/C. It's completely hidden in PAL. 29:37 - The GT350 from NTSC-J is slightly different from the overseas versions, with its RM having a different sideskirt. 33:57 - Like the label suggests, it was originally supposed to be another MX-5 1.6 RM. Some other notes: -The Fiat 500 Sporting has a second RM option which is hidden (memory code '5D 60 4C 13'). -There's a hidden [R]Ford Ka body in the disc (memory code '42 10 78 11'). It's unknown if it was a RM intended for use with the regular Ka, or with a scrapped alternate model (the VW Golfs all have the same RM model with different wheels). -There's a duplicate [R]Mazda Familia/Protegé/323 body in the disc (memory code '1C C7 3C 0B'). Only difference is that it has no label, not a big deal. -The Nismo GT-R LM Road Car is hidden in the NTSC-J version for some reason. -The 300ZX 2+2 '94 (naxvn, 18 28 2E 18), the 300ZX 2-seater (nax3n, 18 21 2E 18) and the 300ZX Turbo (naxsn, 58 27 2E 18) are hidden and body-only in the NTSC-J version. They also have no label. -The overseas versions of the Shelby GT350 and GT500 are body-only in the NTSC-J version. They still have their proper labels though.

Actually, Opel is accessable in not just German, but also in French, Italian and Spanish languages. So essentially, Vauxhall cars are only available, if you play the PAL version in English.

Even though the game was released in Australia and New Zealand, where Opel cars are sold as Holden cars, gamers from both countries who play this get Vauxhall cars instead, which is quite odd, if only SCEE would have made a special A-NZ version of the game, which would not only include Opel cars branded as Holden Cars, but also cars exclusive to said version such as Australian Ford cars and even HSV and various V8 Supercars, similar to what EA did with NFS3 on the PC, which the Australian version has exclusive HSV cars, HSV Adventure Racing, which was the Australian version of Beetle Adventure Racing on the N64, and even the Australian version of NFSHS, which also includes exclusive HSV cars.

I love GT2 for the challenge it gave out. Its not like now, where you can tune a car to max power and race it. In this game, you had to tune a car to a certain limit and race it that way. It made you think more about what cars were more suitable

The Arcade disc still had the NASCAR version of the Taurus SHO. I'm guessing since arcade mode wasn't affected by the bugs that prompted them to release updated copies, they didn't get around to changing it there.

There is a Cadillac (iirc) with yellow and white paintings, you would only unlock it if you play an event at the circuit at 1:03, it was a whopping 99 laps on the longer version of that circuit, it took me around 2 hours to finish it, but man ! totally worth it !

Its fascinating. Although you can't race modify the acura nsx type s and s zero, if you use gameshark on the ntsc and put a honda nsx type s in your garage you can race modify it. Its literally the same car.

MattJ155 The rally cars were obtainable if you bought the stock version then race modified them (on the UK Version) i know this as the first time i race modified the saxo it said it was now the F2 rally car wich was weied owing to the fact it started as a saxo vts alto i dont think they all changed to rally car on the names

30:14 you can drive that if you buy the Taurus in sim mode, put the racing mod on it and then load your "home garage" up in the arcade disk, instead of the regular racing skin it will be mark martins

hey man, how can I get this version of Toyota GT-One?, looks like it is fully detailed rather than the race car '99, I only seem to use it on driving licenses, but I want to own it in my garage. All of those rally cars you said that only appeared on the arcade disc are all on the GT disc of the PAL version. I have nearly all of them. Also, a couple of the cars like the evo IV have the rally modifications as their racing mods which you can put on the car.

Not allnof these were secret/scrapped. I had 2 different versions of this game. One version had a Ford Taurus SHO that had a racing mod that was a stock car, the other version turned it into a dragster version. No telling how many versions there were.

I assume this is an American version of the game considering i can buy most of the cars or win them as prize cars by using different cars in championship races or the endurance races and receive them that way and some of these cars have had the racing mod put on them which does not make them secret or hidden cars

In the Toyota Dealer it sells the Lexus GS400 and Toyota Aristo which are the same car (technically) and I have the american version on a old ps1, can you explain why there is no Lexus because in GT4 Lexus was marketed as an american brand, (Which it's not really).

The 323 wasn't actually that bad a rally car, it just lacked the funding and was handicapped by being a 1.8 turbo, not a full 2 litre
