I said these things in the video already but I guess people are somehow missing it, so I'll reiterate: *This will work on ANYTHING that can play a PS2 game. If you want to know how to get the game working on devices or emulators that are not PCSX2 on a windows PC, you will need to source other tutorials for that. I do not have anything other than PCSX2, and my PS2 is unmodded. I cannot help you there.* *You need to install update patches IN SEQUENTIAL ORDER onto your existing Spec II ISO, one by one if you missed updates. If you are installing Spec II for the first time, you need the FULL PATCH of the latest version on your clean ISO of GT4O NTSC-U* This video covers about 80% of the questions I've been asked so far, but if you run into any Spec II specific issues, the Spec II discussion discord "Racing Game Cafe" is the best place to ask, linked in the description. For patching outside of Windows, I don't know much, but I am asking around and will inform others of a solution once I hear of it. If you have any emulation related questions, that is something I can potentially help.

Hey(again) ^^ I have an issue with the sound. My own car is very silent when driving. It seems, that the motor sound get's muted when using the bumper cam. You can hear this very pronounced when driving the license tests like B-15. The Nissan GTR is VERY loud when the tests starts but my own car makes almost no engine noise. Due to this i can nevere adjust the volume correctly. Either my neighbours get VERY angry with me, or i don't hear anything at all :/ Also the music was very quiet so i lowered sound effects to 7 for racing and replays. Anything i can do about this? It seems this is related to the origin of the motorsound. When it is "behind me" i don't hear anything.

May I humbly request improvements to ARCADE MODE 1- please give us access to memory cards for single race.. just like in 2 player battle .(the same menu lay out would be nice throughout) 2 - please have access to racing tires and rims (driving options menu) for all cars when purchased in GT mode. (selected from memory cards) 3- (for those who love local split screen battle) pretty please have driving aids available (driving options menu) when cars are selected (especially from memory cards) One more thing... in GT mode some cars clearly have spoilers (eg Nissan option stream z) but no access downforce sliders. If possible please work your magic. I am not just a talker I am ready to finance my request. Please and thanks

What additional content? They took away half the special conditions races, and removed the sun, and split race times. The only good thing about this mod is the different car sounds. I wish I could just have that and leave the rest.

PCSX2 nightly builds also have a verify option to check the hash of the iso, which is cool if you're gonna play it that way.

The ingame Progressive 480p option really saved this for me, i had it on 1080 and it was constantly switching between fine and blurry, drove me crazy

lol damn I'm glad you went over this. In monitor settings, I changed widht/height/aspect to 1920/1080/1.777 and I was playing Quake Pro in terms of FOV. I thought it was something from Spec II to optimize for widescreens etc.

The only issues I had with Spec 2 was that it refused to boot on some of my bios files but I found one which works just fine and so far Im in love with this mod especially with the retexture and HD UI mod ❤

It seems that due to the Spec II mod made some of the assets (manufacturers logo etc.) showing correctly in 16:9 aspect ratio by default, applying the HD UI mod to it can make some of those UI assets distorted where they appears narrower.

In PCSX2, I use a controller but have it setup to be recognised by the virtual PS2 as a wheel, thus bypassing the long interpolation on the steering in GT4 (makes tank slappers less likely, but does slightly reveal a lack of weight shift/throttle oversteer). I wonder if a later update to spec 2 could apply the wheel mode to the steering movement on controllers too, so I could do this on my real PS2.

Only the HD HUD for now, but I removed the car icons, event banners and other menu pictures as Spec II addresses the aspect ratio correction itself, so they end up looking squished when both are used

I am using the mod but I would like to know how to modify the dead zone of my joysticks. I tried using the emulator's option but it did not change anything. I know my controller is not the issue because I play with 1 dead zone on cod mw3 which means my controller is very sensitive but for some reason on pcsx2 2.0 no matter what I do it only starts to register analog movement at around 35%. I believe people said it is because of the new pluggin and that it is better to go back to an older version of the emulator to avoid this dead zone issue

Using Nightly build of pcsx2 v2.1.195, Im having an issue using my g29 wheel. It works on base game gt4 perfectly fine but then It doesnt work with spec 2. Is yours working on spec 2? How did you get it to work if so? Nvm, just got it to work by updating from version 1.05 -> 1.06 -> 1.06.1. I forgot to update in order and I guess that fixed my wheel compatibility.

I've tested it, and it works perfectly on Xbox Series (without the texture pack, they are too heavy for the Xbox memory). I recommend you to look for the XBSX2 emulator (ver 2.08) for Xbox Series Dev Mode, which is based on the latest versions of PCSX2 and is better than the retroarch core 😉👍

Do you patch the update _into_ the already patched version or patch the update into the base/original iso? It wasnt working for me trying to patch the update into the base iso file, but once I patched the update into the patched iso, it worked... But I see all your ISO file sizes are about 10x bigger than the "patched update" ISO I made. I'll try again...

There's 2 types of downloads: the full patch and the update patch Full patches (larger file sizes) only go on a clean GT4O ISO. Update patches (small file sizes) go on your existing Spec II ISO's, in sequential order. You can't skip through update patches

Changing the CRC won't work for other versions of the game itself. You need a PAL specific version

This is a fantastic mod, truly is! I just have one gripe with it, they removed the option to have the LEFT stick to brake/throttle which worked perfectly if you rebound the buttons for your controller to use the triggers to use because you needed to brake and accelerate at the same time which you barely cant if you have only the right sticks bound for acc/brakes for obvious reasons so to use the left stick for that makes it a separate axels which allows acceleration breaking. So is there a possibility this could be added to Spec II?

He explains it at 3:30 Its better to do every single update, step by step (from 1.02 to 1.03 and then from 1.03 to 1.04) or start with an unpatched ISO and apply the latest update to it.

Spyker LaViolette being a FR , in my game the Spyker LaViolette is MR, which is accurate and VW Golf events (GTi club) shows all opponents, just completed it, but anyways thanks for the tip, will try to dl it again and patch it up starting from 1.01 just in case

I see you added to your comment lol, but to answer: When you click the '...' icon for the output file, that's when your file is named and the extension you put on the end is how it will be structured, so adding the .iso after the patch is done won't work.

Hey, I have one problem with GT4 - I can't change the resolution in the game. It's set to the lowest possible resolution and I can't change it to 2560x1440 (in PCSX2), in fact I can't change it to anything else. The game is still set on 640x448 and looks awfull. :(

Fixed - just go to "Rendering" tab and change the Internal resolution to 4x Native (or some other) instead of Native (PS2).

There's no reason to use older versions of PCSX2 anymore. Your mem card will transfer, but make a backup of it just in case

I've recently installed the GT4 Spec II mod for PCSX2. While the game looks & runs great, whenever I go into a race, the screen size shrinks. Adjusting the aspect ratio doesn't do anything, and the menus all look completely fine. I'm baffled, did I miss something?

I don't know what the exact terminology is, but the game runs at a fixed 60hz/fps rate. So 60 frames = 1 in-game second, 30 = .5 seconds etc. Instead of dropping frames when your performance is poor, the game instead slows down. Because of this, if you try to run at 120hz then the game would just be double speed instead, and I'm pretty sure it's hard coded into the engine itself and there's a lot of factors that rely on this timing, so I doubt it will ever be possible to change it

You actually can. I'm running the game at an interpolated 144hz using lossless scaling on my Legion Go handheld, looks and plays amazing and I can't feel the input lag or any ghosting. It's actually running at 60 in the emulator, but interpolating frames to 144. Seriously impressive playing it at 1440P HD HUD, textures and 144hz on a handheld. Feels like a true remaster.

Go to System --> Start BIOS --> Browser, the memory cards will be there. In one of the memory cards there should be an icon for GT4 Online Game data, press x (enter) and from there you can delete it. Hope that helps, had the same issue.

I'm enjoying the cars sounds, my favourites: Mclaren F1 GTR, Peugeot 905, Sauber C9. The Jaguar XJR9 doesn't sounds really nice, the actual Mclaren F1 GTR sounds in game it's more near to the real XJR9 V12 while the McLaren F1 GTR real sound is a little low rev compared to the game sound. Anyway anything can be improved in next patchs.

Hard AI code is not compatible with Spec 2. It's not fun to play GT4 with the vanilla AI, as they don't put too much of a challenge for experienced players.

You can either apply the 1.02 update patch to your existing Spec II ISO, and then patch it to 1.03, or you can take your fresh GT4 Online ISO and do the full 1.03 patch on it. Skipping an update patch will either break it or xdelta will refuse to patch

Absolutely love the mod! Anyone got any tips or working cheats where i can gold events and get money cheats? I spent hours on the retail version and want to get somewhat close to this instead of starting again on this new version. None of the money cheats i used to use work at all anymore for spec 2

Honestly I tried this mod and it has some issues. There are missing features like no sun, no split time thumbnail or time during race, they got rid of half the special conditions races and, they nerfed traction assists. It also has more performance problems than the original especially with the HD texture packs installed. I would say just stick the original. The pros don't out weigh the cons. It only a way to cheat with the randomizer and get the good prize cars without putting in the work. Low key hated it.

Most of those are because of your emulator settings and not the mod. The mod performs no different than the original game, and any expectations or assumptions that it should or can one day improve performance are unrealistic. Also, it’s built on the GT4 Online beta which does have slight differences than the original build. That’s where the differences in assists come from

Discord is encrypted. So you could share links in a Discord server without problems. If you wanted too obviously

I was able to patch it on my steam deck. There's a delta patcher on the discover store.
