Gran Turismo 7 has received a new update with the fan favorite Eiger Nordwand and several new cars. But for many the biggest highlight is the handling update. ‪@EmreeRacing‬ has been testing before and after the update and shares her thoughts with us.

The new physics are SO GOOD, I have an Omega profile sim rig and Fanatec DD+, this is what I've wanted from GT7 for years, finally I can catch sliding intuitively before it snaps as now I can feel the weight transfer of the car, I can feel the grip at EACH WHEEL. And the dirt physics are so damn good now, it's like playing Colin Mcrae Rally only more VISCEREL.The different surfaces behave far more realistically now, curbs, grass, wet, dirt. The FFB is more detailed with much more subtle queues rather than the onenote FFB of previous GT7, rewarding people with high power wheels that can turn up the FFB and feel the detail, time to buy Fanatec DD+ guys, you will not regret it, anyone complaining on controller or G29 , time to upgrade, 8nm direct drive is the minimum to appreciate this update as you will need FFB at 100. For DD+ 15nm My FFB settings are: FFB:40-50 (GT7 controller FFB set to 10 in-game!) FUL:50, NDP:50, NFR:15, NIN:10, INT:OFF, FEI: 100, FOR:100, SPR:OFF, DPR:100 Also don't forget to update Fanatec wheel driver to version 457!

​@@iaia5368???I have a gaming PC and own Forza 5,6,7... GT7 is better than Forza in many ways, while Forza is only better than GT7 in a few. Neither are true sim like iRacing, but GT7 is the most fun for me, it was built with the clearest vision, the developer Polyphony wanted to celebrate cars, car culture and car people.

@@joescivic It was released in April so you may already have it. Also I read on the fanatec forums that people with 5nm wheel base like DD Pro prefer the old 455 driver because it is more visceral to make up for the lack of power (although this comes at the cost of losing detail).

I play on controller and the majority of cars (road, GT3, VGT) seem to have more grip in some instances. RWD cars also have a lot more rear wheel slip in some instances, too. I've had to adjust my first and second gear in a lot of my tunes (or use TC). I also had to adjust all of my tunes to get the cars under the PP limit for certain events like Le Mans, Spa, etc. This always happens after an update, along with BoP, but it's more noticeable with the physics changes. Suspension is more or less the same, IMO. However, Sophy and the default AI have not adjusted to the physics, yet. I'm witnessing a lot more spin outs and some cars being faster on straights due to more grip. Keep up the great work, Em!

I use the old trusted logi G 29 and sinse the update have found, much less rubber to tarmac feedback force, but better grip and turn in rotation.. Probably all down to the new tyres and the phisics. However, I like it and it suits my style of driving.. Trail breaking is king now, not the old on/off style that so many have got stuck in... Guess they need to change, or just continue crying about it. Cheers for the vid 👍🏁

I noticed the increased grip with newer tires. As the tires wear the difficulty in applying throttle comes back so I would expect that Supra to approach being similar to the old on worn tires. I did the Le Mans event a number of times to get a taste of the new handling with tire wear and changing conditions and I really liked the results. I found that with the new handling it was easier to get yourself in trouble if you dropped a wheel either on the grass or onto a wet surface, especially with slicks. I may or may not have recreated Jimmy Broadbent's spin myself at the end of the Mulsanne.

Cars definitely have more grip but at the same time more instability. Some AWD cars are reportedly snapping out of control and spinning. This wasn't a thing in the old physics. I can confirm this. You need to trail brake into corners and not hit the brakes hard now. But some cars are experiencing like my mitsubishi 3000 gto on Nordschleife, the snap understeer or oversteer. Turn 10 Foxhole is one area if your going at speed that will actually unsettle the car now. There are plenty of other areas. The problem is this is not necessarily recoverable on a controller very easily if at all. You gotta let off throttle now folks or coast through some areas so the cars don't do this. Is this supposed to be part of the physics changes i wonder ?

Well, for starters all cars are now unstable under braking and cannot be fixed with tuning.

Yep the game plays like crap now 😂 I came back after a month and I thought I was trash I barely hit the brake and I’m spinning out like zero brake control it’s a video game no real life if I want to drive a real car I will go to the track in my car it was great before the update it was real but fun

It seems like that the old version was to hard to drive for the targeted group of 5 year old pre schoolers. But now everything seems fine to me.

Understeer has been vastly increased. I also find it harder to counter-steer. I feel like they made it better for people who like grip driving and worse for people who like to slide around.

The most notable change for me has been the more natural feel when driving on dirt. It's not yet at EA WRC handling (which is a good medium for most people in a 'pick-up-and-play' sense), but it's headed further in that direction which is a good thing.

im driving smoother, using less input and taking better lines than controller players with 3x tyre wear and compared to me on a g29 they'll have 1/3 worth of tread left after 8 laps where I will have none. same car. same brake bias. private lobby. completely agree that the BoP is broken - ive never seen such a huge difference between the popular/usual gr3 cars their performance and tyre wear.

tested 5 laps suzuka 5x tyre wear 5x fuel. Vantage Gr3 BoP on. 20% increase in tyre efficiency from changing force feedback settings after this change. Turned ff back to 1, 1 instead of 3,10 and lowered sensitivity of g29 to 100/100 brake/accel and changed steering from 640deg to 900deg. This update is provably broken and it really annoyed me that an update would cause such a massive negative performance change to gameplay from my existing settings. the fifth lap around suzuka before the change ended with both tyres completely gone. after the changes to ff and g29 I had 25% left on front left and 15% front right. my laps will on average vary around 0.2 around suzuka in a controlled environment every time . brake bias was 5+ both tests.

Just an observarion, the top speeds are quite different, which leads me to think the wind had a different direction on the laps. Could also affect the feel of the handling in some corners then, but overall great explenation and host!

Haven't seen the bouncing, but I have encountered some snap oversteer and Im not sure if it was the game or me but it felt " new ". Also Nordwand is " pretty " but Matterhorn was WAY more fun as a circuit. Im way past the point with the cars and tracks in GT the only car I really got excited about was the Ruf. Pretty tired of old cars coming back to the game as NEW!! when there are lots and lots of newer cars from manufacturers PD has relationships with that are not in the game but in the " competitors " games.

The biggest problem I have felt/seen is the tire wear at SPA the 800pp 1,000,000 credit 1 hour race. The car I used had been turned up on PP, no big problem, I fixed that. I run Racing Hard tires and they used to run 24 laps in a dry race, now they last 8 or 9 laps. On a different note, the shifter karts lost another 29 pp. This is the third time they have been "nerfed" and we keep records for our league. Sadly no tire or fuel usage since GT5 for karts.

I gave the new track a go in custom racing with my custom 600pp grid. Within 3 laps i left and decided i will come back with my custom 450pp, 500pp grid. You correct, it's just not fun when fast.

Yeah, there are a handful of cars now when fully modded.... that are literally undrivable. Literally. They have no PP until you drop the power dramatically.

ps5, controller guy here, ive noticed no negative handling issues, but have seen other players bounce about. imo, the course is ok, the cars are ok, but damn, couldnt we got apricot hill, or autumn ring? maybe el capitan, or cote de azure? seems like so many better courses couldve been dropped. also, idk why we needed another bmw or ferrari.

@@dcode1000 no such thing as a dumb question! Yes, in your wheelbase settings, turn TF to 100, and feedback torque to 11 nm. Then in your GT7 vibration settings, set it to 150. Hope this helps.

The Physics of the Sport Tyres have not changed, its just a graphic thing as far as we know. -Michel

@OverTake_gg Hi Michel, this is taken from the website notes on update 1.49, which I read in game: 　- The tyre physics simulation model has been adjusted: 　　・Turning stability on low speed corners and kerbs has been improved; 　　・Surface resistance (rolling resistance) has been optimised; 　　・Heat and wear behaviour have been adjusted on Racing tyres; 　　・Grip reduction on the racing line in wet conditions, and hydroplaning physics have been adjusted. So technically something has changed with the tyres, as it seems all tyres are Michelin as opposed to me originally thinking they were an additional tyre option. As this doesn't specify racing tyres alone, it may be across the board with varying adjustment? 🤔
