so your comment about being just as fast on the medium vs hard tires is close enough to correct. if the tire grip levels look like hard-1000, medium-1200, soft-1400, and the difference between the three is how quickly those grip levels decrease. yet when those levels decrease, the ranges overlap and it becomes a mental exercise to shift your driving style to match the current level of grip. as proven in your video, your out lap on the fresh mediums was a few seconds quicker than your best lap on the hard tires, yet as the mediums wore out, the times looked similar to the hard tires. this would be better proven on a lap where it is just you driving. those other drivers make it hard to compare lap times because they shift you off of the racing line at times. learning about lateral and longitudinal grip would help anyone reading this.

But seriously....GT Sport is the only racing game I've ever played that I can take seriously and MOST races have competitive, competent, respectful racers. so this is a bit of real life mechanics in the game, but I find it that if you can control the car without abs, your braking is usually a tiny bit better, but it makes a huge difference for the tires. Since abs really only kicks in when your wheels lock up, technically you're still getting the wheels to lock for a fraction of a second which over the run of the entire race does some decent damage to the tires.

My guess for the tire wear is that you play with a controller. I think that it may lead you to use the tires ever so slightly harder, especially the fronts. You will tend to turn in just a little harder, perhaps getting a little more sliding in the front end as you go slightly past the grip level. It's not a huge thing, but over the course of a lap, you may have a dozen or more cases where you use a very slight bit more up. Over a 6 lap stint, that can make all of the difference.

Im a fan of the new "penalty zone" personally, atleast there is something in place now that makes it manditory to serve your penalty shortly after its been dealt. Before this was introduced players could/would make a move knowing full well they would be dealt a penalty but not be worried about it as they would have the Possibility of increasing the Split between you and themselves, which in turn meant they wouldnt bother to serve that penalty at all, so say for install they was dealt a 3 second penalty but they finish the race 4 seconds in front for example, they still manage to keep their position because you was too far behind in order for the penalty to take effect. This new "penalty zone" increases the chances of you being able to gain the position back that was taken from you unfairly. Great analysis as always by the way Super GT, keep the content coming lad 💪💪👍

As someone who got my first post-update penalty on this track during the chicane at the start, if you get the penalty too soon before the penalty zone it doesn't register for that lap. I assume the area where the yellow Slowing Down warning box comes up is the blindspot. It's really annoying on a track like this where you can effectively ruin two practice or qualifying laps with no way out of it.

He's going to tell to turn off TCS and get used to it. No one FAST uses TCS. I just can't do it yet. MOST Cars I can do it on.....Gr4 and slower, I can do zero TCS but Gr3 and up, I have to have it on at least 1

@@YappingGamerDad I've tried running gt3 cars with no TCS but im so much slower and its so frustrating, made me realize im not so serious about it, still im like 5 seconds of the world records most of the time lap time wise
@YappingGamerDad6 жыл бұрын
@@nicolaslabra2225 try learning with zero TCS on Gr4 AWD cars first. Once comfortable, try a Gr4 FR car with no TCS. Then a Gr4 MR car, finally trying a Gr4 RR car. You'll find that the AWD Gr4 cars, you can still swing the rear, but you will almost never spin it with no TCS. Unless being very careless or hitting grass. If you use a controller with or without TCS, practice applying half throttle in that trigger finger. Watch their replays. Around almost every corner, these guys are in half throttle while turning still. Being on half throttle keeps your speed up and as soon as the nose is straight, go full throttle. Don't be ashamed, there's nothing wrong with using TCS to get used to it. But I promise you, the key is the half throttle before full throttle. When your wheels are still turned and you want to smash the throttle, use half throttle and then full throttle......it keeps the power in the back so when you go wide open throttle (WOT), the car isn't shocked and spins. When you go WOT with the front wheels turning, the car squats and spins......when you have half throttle, the car stays semi-squated so when you go WOT the car is already settled for acceleration and the tires are gripping. I have TCS off with everything Gr4 or slower now. But still need 1 or 2 TCS with Gr3. For some reason, I can do Gr2 without TCS as well. With TCS on 2 with the faster Gr3 cars, try this..... when you either brake or lift throttle for a turn, as soon as you start to turn in, tap that trigger WOT once, just a pump.....then while turning and you know TCS will limit throttle to keep the car stable, during hairpins and the like, alternate WOT and lift throttle while turning to try and pick up time against zero TCS users. It's hard to explain in text. Basically makes the car turn while maintaining speed. If you're on PS4, I can send you a friend request and some examples in replay if that's hard to understand. The upcoming N300 race in the Nation's Cup....it was the first time I've ever hit the Top 10 Global leader board in lap times. Big ol #10 I was for a whole 10 minutes.....I knew to take a screenshot.lol. Anyway....good luck either way.

I'm trying to have fun but I'm very serious about improving and respecting other drivers. I had a fun race once in GT6, kind of toying with the other guys in the online race. Racing the Ginetta G4, it has less weight and weight balancing played out to be quite important with that car, ,just as much as the right amount of camber and toe in/out. Not really sure if I raced the Ginetta at that time, but one of the races with fuel and tire wear, I actually improved my time on my number one go-to track, Nürburgring and my time got better and better as the laps progressed with more and more tire wear and those guys in the room commented it. Fun moment. I didn't buy GT Sport and the PS4 in order to play it, mainly because of my strong affinity for dull, uninteresting cars, sleepers, boring cars that can easily turn thing around with proper tuning and because I like cars in general. GT Sport is a good game, but with lots of missing wishes. Forza Horizon however, meets my requirement slightly, even though I still would like to see forgotten brands from Brazil, Russia, Germany, Czech, France and so many others. It has the BMW Isetta at least, so watch out for the blue and yellow pocket rocket with a hillarious funny expression ^_^ There is a blueprint with only isetta's and light rain, you have to check it out, those AI's can't handle it!

suggestion for tire preservation: brake and accelerate in straight lines and never while turning. think of your tires as having 100% grip that you can devote to different things. you maximize performance (and tire life) by devoting that grip to one thing at a time; i.e., turning, or accelerating, or braking. you maximize turning performance by devoting all your grip to it instead of turning AND braking/accel, which will reduce the performance of both. you won't turn as tight and you wont accel as fast if you're doing both at the time same. also by doing both you're stressing your tires more and wearing them faster. thirdly by doing both you're more likely to exceed 100% grip and lose traction. of course this means braking earlier since you're not trail braking into apexes anymore and that can allow someone to pass you, so this is more for maximizing lap times in qualifying or when you have no pressure behind you. also you can do both when total grip usage is well under 100%, like in easy turns, but knowing that comes with experience when i'm sure you'll gain quickly.

In terms of overtaking its a simple calculation. You both lose time by overtaking (and any tire wear etc if applicable), but you also bleed time every lap being behind someone who is slower. So are you being slowed enough to overtake, or are you going to be stuck behind for long enough to overtake, otherwise leave it to the end of the race.

Quick question: you started the race in 8th and had a very tough time fighting to keep your position, ultimately dropping down to 15th after your pit. Is that just attributable to tire compound, car builds, or more optimal racing lines? Considering everyone is in the same group and the vehicles will have comparable performances, I was very confused why this was happening throughout the entire race. Thanks for the great video. I think that the new system is definitely going to help equalize the field, and takes out a lot of the penalty strategy crossing the line so you can just focus on racing to the end. Cheers!

I completely agree about the tire wear and lap times comment. Especially because I just did this race in the Porsche the other day....during qualifying, I went in with Hard tires and swapped to Medium to try and pick up a couple spots in qualifying and see if it's worth it to swap. I ran two more laps and only improved half a second. Add all the tire wear and I obviously chose the RH tires and just had to be a little more careful, that's all. I ruined my race regardless because I didn't do my homework to know about the penalty system changes. Someone in that chicane spun and tried to stay in it, but was in the racing line SIDEWAYS and I T-boned him....getting a 3.5 second penalty. I tried to serve the penalty immediately pretty much because he wrecked me, and came to a complete stop and didn't lose the penalty.....lost 5 positions and THEN STILL HAD TO SERVE THE PENALTY THE NEXT LAP. Yea....not a good race for me. The Gr2 race was brutal. These Gr2 daily races make my forehead hurt with all the focus, anxiety and pressure applied. I'm going to break my thumbs, I'm thinking of buying a wheel tbh. But in my FIA Gr2 race....I actually did fairly well for a D level driver. Placed top 10 after getting punted in turn 1 for braking too much. Those Gr2 cars are fucking fast and have some serious down force on lift throttle turn ins. Damn it feels good but not when boxed in by more aggressive drivers.lol On this current circuit with the Gr2 daily races.....I have the "S's" down after turn one in the Lexus, 3rd gear, TCS on 2, just half throttle and full throttle alternating to help turn the car, tires squealing just pushing the car through. Love it.
