The coolest shit about Granblue Versus is that a lot of the badass stuff in it is pretty much faithfully (and beautifully) recreated from the mobile games. And from what little we've seen of Relink, I am also excited to see how good some of these attacks look there.

Ark Sys, making the anime community so allergic to the use of 3D almost wish some animes were made using their graphics and style. If it isn't peak performance flexing...I don't know what it is. Their 3D is so expressive, both industries should take notes on the tricks they use.

I think what sells it for me is that all that effort put in is functional. Most intros, supers, taunts, etc that dont necessarily serve any function other than styling on fools is short and sweet and to the point. And more importantly gives the characters personality, which in turn makes you want to play them. You see this in dbfz, and guilty gear as well.

Just a bit of explanation for reference characters. Will only talk about things in their bio, and fate stories. Main event/story spoilers won't be included. Djeeta : Well Djeeta who is also the upcoming DLC character is actually female counterpart of Gran. When you start the game, you can either pick male or female like in Pokemon games. Picking male will get you Gran while picking female will get you Djeeta. Alter Ego Conjurer is actually just a evil Gran skin for players who grinded a lot in game. I don't have it yet so not sure if there is a lore reason behind it. Djeeta also have alter ego conjurer of her own so she will probably have a similar color scheme. Arulumaya : A rather popular Harvin in the mobile game. She is a Harvin who can see the future but the problem is that these future can't be changed so she always tried to warn people about the upcoming future before it is too late. No relationship with Charlotta. Bridgette : A Harvin from the same Knight order as Charlotta. She idolized Charlotta and is a very good cook. Vane : Lancelot's BFF. Vice Captain of the knight order Lancelot is from. They grew up together and joined the same knight order. If Lancelot appears in an event, Vane will be there, they are inseperate. Yaoi fangirls love pairing these two. He is loud, energetic, a bit of a dumbass. Good cook. ( What's up with knights in this game being a good cook ?!!! ) Aglovale : Percival's older brother. Percy wants to be a wise, good ruler while Aglovale is more of a calculating and detached ruler. Very strong ice magic users. Percy hadn't never beaten him alone. Christina : Queen/Owner of the Casino where Ladvia worked at. Also the only SSR you can get without wasting a single crystal because you can get her by playing the casino mini games for ...... very very very very very very very very long time. Korwa : Erunes ... everyone love them and Korwa used to be the QUEEN of them all. In the years of 2017,2018, Korwa is the QUEEN buffer. No one can compared to her buffs to the point that people are using her in elements she have no business in because she is just that strong and that is AFTER the massive nerf she received. The only downside is that you have to click stuffs and in GBF, no one like clicking stuffs when farming. Soo slowly she get powercrept and now is just a very pretty erune. Yea ... soo about 1 and half year, she is the world's strongest dress designer ( yes that is her job in the game ). No relationship to Metera, i think she is used as reference, since people love Korwa. Obsessed with Happy ending. Sutera : Metera's younger sister. While Metera is more thot and freedom minded. Sutera is much more serious and hardworking but despite all that, Sutera's hardwork just can't compare to Metera's lazy genius and Sutera had a massive complex about it. But eh yea, she and the villagers get over it and Sutera was crowned the guardian of the village even through that should be Metera's job. Tyre : A dude who really love a certain Yandere that loves Katalina. This dude is so in love that he can power himself by fantasizing that Yandere's voice. In a unlikely meeting, Tyre and Lowains bros had an event together where they fantasize about girls together. Celeste Omega : Celeste is a primal beast that controls Death. Can't talked about relationship with Ferry because it is story spoiler territory. She maybe why Ferry is a ghost. Maybe Catherine : A erune burgler. Literally just anime Catwoman thief type. She stole stuffs, hide under a fake identity. No relationship with Ferry. Just picked because Cath seems fairly popular in Japan. Ilsa : The Society's Drill sergent and the erune that most people will want to marry because she is single, 25+ year old and wants to get married. When off the job, she is sweet and kind but when she is training the society agents/soldiers, she will yell out swearwords and insults that makes criminals blush. Also likes to nickname people. She called Zeta "puppy" Beatrix : Another society's "top" agent. She is probably the most unluckiest woman alive in this game. Every events something unlucky happens to her. An event where Beatrix comes out unscathed ... i hadn't seen it. She and Zeta are basically BFFs. Let me see ... she get captured and crucified by a gang of raiders in one event, caught in a exploding race car in another event, stranded on a frozen mountain top in the middle of a blizzard wearing nothing but ... a BIKINI. Automagod Grynoth : Society's primal killing weapons all came from the moon and are sealed forms of some crazy automata things. Well ... this one is Vaseraga's scythe that is unsealed and rampaging from one of the event. Lucilius : The video editor made a mistake(ish) here. The guy shown in the pic is actually Lucifer but there are 3 guys with the same looks as Lucifer. To talk about this guy is eh .... going into big big event spoiler territory. Just know that Lucilius is like Beelzebub's counterpartish. Maria Theresa : Oh boy, i didn't expect Maria to be used as a reference, eh ... she is an Evoker who formed a pact with a primal beast that wishes to remake the world ... yea ... the rest is a bit of important Evoker spoilers. No relationship to Narmaya. Kumbhira : She dresss like a thot, but she is NOT a thot. She is a very sweet girl with an affinity for Pigs. She is a priestess of the this group of temples that are based on Zodiacs animals. Every new year, Zodiacs based on the new year is released and she is the new zodiac for the year of pigs. Did i mention she is very very sweet ? Eahta : Narmaya's uncle. She is the reason why Narmaya pushed herself to be this strong. Long long time ago, Eahta is just obessed with strength. He came over to Narmaya's house, and Narmaya was wowed by his strength but he didn't even give her a glance so Narmaya decided to become strong, very strong so that he will be forced to acknowledge her. Narmaya finally become strong and challenged Eatha to a duel and ended up with a draw. Eatha is a part of the Eternals, a legendary skyfarer crew that only have the strongest weapons users in their rank. So yeaa Narmaya managed to get a draw with a man who is considered strongest Katana user. Very OP, managed to slice a lot of airships from miles away in a recent event.

The lore of Alter Ego Conjurer is stated after you final uncapped all Seraphic weapons. Belial appeared in the singularity's dream again, only to tell that the overwhelming powers of the Seraphic weapons were too much for one mortal to bear. Belial then points out that the singularity was not in control all along. In the end, the singularity was able to control the dark powers that welled up deep within him/her thanks to both Lyria and Vyrn taking the singularity back to reality. The singularity then vows to use this overwhelming power to ptotect everyone he/she loved.

I got Granblue Fantasy Versus last week and I got to say I never fell in love with a artstyle so quickly before, I love it, the only other artsytle that did this was SkullGirls. Not only that but the wonderful fighting animation is jut beautiful to look while playing, that I sometimes lose some matches cause I was distracted by it lol. Its a shame GranBlue isn't available in App Stores in the west, I would love to play it because of GranBlue Fantasy Versus, I'm very interested in learning more about GranBlue's characters and checking out the Original Game.

May I also add,as a fellow FGO player that also plays GBF: this is one HELL of a grind game. There's plenty of OP weapons and characters you can farm in order to unlock them,so you can save your crystals for Flashfes/Legfes (monthly banners with doubled rates and limited units). Any effort you're willing to put in will slowly be rewarded to you,so it's better not to rush it all at once.

You can play it in full English. It is just not available in Appstore. You can play it straight from PC Browser or downing Qoapp which is basically Playstore for Japanese/Korean/Chinese game. Cygame had been localizing GBF inhouse so no delay at all

This game looks so good and the attention and effort they put into everything is so great that it ALMOST makes me want to get into the actual Granblue to know more about the characters I'm playing with. But I just can't game's too grindy for me. I'm glad the personality of the characters shines more than enough with the fighting game to compensate for that lack of background knowledge

As long as you don't go for the meta over the top grids it's not nearly as grindy as it was before. They often gives weapons already lvl100 and all nowdays. Useless to high level players, but still super good for new players get a headstart. Just finishing a side-story grant you rewards we used to have to grind for. You can call for help in raids and co-op too. Plus, the game is localized in english, playable on Chrome browser, and they even started to implement keyboard imput in one of the recent event's minigame. As long as you know how to keep gacha impulses in check, there's no reason to not try it if you like turn-based J-rpgs.

Ack, you had Katabot but missed that A, B and EX Katabot are also references to Katalina and Vira's animations - A is attack, B is Skill 3, and EX is Skill 1. There's also the reverse GBF references to Versus. For example, technically SR 5* Kat's art (2:53) is actually GBF referencing Versus, not the other way around. Ares was revealed in the netplay beta before she was a thing in Granblue!

Funny enough, though, a couple of these are actually GBVS references in Granblue Fantasy. Aftermath and Sirius Roar, for example, are in the game only since Spaghetti Syndrome on January this year. And Ladiva's SSR version was also launched after the reveal in GBVS reveal.

For a game that was really only developed to fit the downtime of GG Strive and to make a game for Granblue Fantasy fans its fine. As much as I like having a roster of 20+ characters I only end up seriously playing two or three. As long as the play style is unique I don't particularly care.

GBF versus makes me wish Proto Bahamut had a better summon while still being "proto bahamut", and not locked as a weak early game summon. The dragon is just way too sick in this state.

@@raindrain1 Yeah but, it just doesn't feel the same, even if it's a better summon. :/ His animation kinda just happens and is super stiff, it feels lazy and rushed, where as the weaker Sr summon looks much more detailed with the shackles breaking, the charge of the beam, glowing eye, the jaw opening and bahamut trusting it's neck forward as it fires. (Also i really like the chained look, it is part of the raid boss after all.)

I played the game maybe for half a year before quitting. There's more to it than I thought. I did okay but lost my account after buying a new phone and after three weeks of trying to recover it I stopped. Didn't stop me from purchasing the game though. Blazblue been great (not you BBTAG) but it's time for another fighter to get really good at.

I actually lost my first account like a year and a half ago since I'd foolishly forgotten to bind my account to a mobage.com account, and sadly their support team doesn't really respond to account recovery requests. But I decided to come back just as they were having a new years roulette and I managed to get back on my feet in no time.
