The boss fight is as intimidating as the song. I heard this song so many times while I was watching streams of the most experienced granblue players trying and failing to get the world first clear of this boss. It was truly an experience most fans won't forget. This song also has a passage from another very popular song that came before this called Paradise Lost, which is very related to Zero. It kinda adds more weight to the song.

Oh boy, where do we start with this song? First of all, as Jesse already guessed this song is for the fight that for a very long time was considered THE final boss in granblue, and even now, after several harder bosses have come out, almost none feel as intimidating as this one. Just like in previous boss battles like the ones for Dark Silver Wings and The Ultimate, when this boss came out it required very developed teams and a lot of coordination between players, a single mistake could spell disaster for the entire raid. Similarly, like other boss battles, the actual song is divided in sections that loop until your team manages to lower his health to a certain point, and the intensity of the battle matches quite well with each section. Getting to hear the end of the song after a very long fight felt like a huge reward. Regarding the composer, Tsutomu Narita is one of Nobuo Uematsu's apprentices, they worked together in the early songs for the game and, when Uematsu left to work in other projects, Narita got the lead composer position. Since then he has worked in most, if not all the songs made for the Granblue franchise, including the fighting game and the upcoming action RPG.

No matter what games I play, this will FOREVER be THE final boss theme song! It's a perfect mix of like "bow down and acknowledge defeat", divine vibes, ominous, epic, intimidating (specially when you try the raid for the first times) and the feeling that "this is really the end of it all". I cannot put how much I like this song in words!
@HaxeRain Жыл бұрын
Oh this theme, may as well named the "6 man choir" by the players, because this is one of the first and truly end game raid bosses in GBF, coming from the culmination of a 3 part event thats still regarded as one of the highest points in the series, its a raid that, while now has been overshadowed by newer harder ones, it was incredibly intimidating at first, as it had one mechanic that, no matter what, spelled completely that the raid failed, pretty much if you do certain things during the raid and reach an hp threshold of the boss, you get a limit, 6 characters in total, from any player in the raid, if they die, EVERYONE DIES, coupled with the own raid time limit being 30 minutes instead of the standard 1h30m made it so stressful since it required often cooperation with a game that has no real chat ingame and required somethig like discord, and could be easily sabotaged, and still can be Adding to that, this same raid is the point where you can say a player has gotten past the point of a newbie, to a normal player
@syrelian Жыл бұрын
And The End continues to randomly mulch runs, you open the raid up, get three real good players who help you push after a short wait for joiners, Sephiroth comes down, The Final Countdown stacks come online, and then two randoms join and get blasted by the 30k opener and woops there goes the whole run
@devsleeps54 Жыл бұрын
I do wanna say that at 9:40 the riff that plays is from a different gbf song called Paradise Lost and its actually the vocal part of that song "Let me feel the power" which shows up in quite a few different boss themes like Lucilius here and Avatar Belial. Its cool how they make the themes have references
@devsleeps54 Жыл бұрын
Paradise Lost is also the name of Lucilius' main raid trigger ontop of being other characters supers and even summon calls in the game. Basically if you have any relation to any Angel/Fallen Angel character you're more then likely going to have a Paradise Lost reference

Zero is probably the best song to ever be put into a video game, which is a tall claim. The way it supplements the story is unmatched and it’s kickass hearing the song as you wear down the boss, especially solo when it takes as long as the entire song to do. Its not a fight to beat Lucilius; you can’t. Its a fight to prove why humanity should exist, since he seeks to end what has no meaning after being derived of all. Your struggle is for all of existence to continue, not just to beat a world ending boss. What do you mean in the face of apocalypse, what makes the sky blue? This song perfectly encapsulates that in a climax that took a *long* while to conclude.
@jonahbrown5669 Жыл бұрын
The character themes from DMC5 do something similar I'd say. Zero's definitely a great song, not sure it would make my top 10 though
@kylele23 Жыл бұрын
@@jonahbrown5669 Ehh, if they’re within the same space of paying off a long arc then I think Bury The Light is the main competitor. Subhuman, V’s theme, and Devil Trigger/Silver Bullet just feel like expected battle themes. Shall Never Surrender was better at showcasing Nero’s eagerness to show his powers while also his kindness and steel will for good intentions. Devils Never Cry did a similar thing for Dante.
@clivelowell42738 ай бұрын
Not to argue with ur point cause it’s 10 months later but I don’t really get the vibe you can’t beat Lucilius, especially because he is literally defeated after this by you and sandy. I get the same vibe as i get from bubs theme, it’s the raid bosses own thoughts, especially after reaching these points and clashing with the protagonist

Oh man, I asked for Zero a year and a half ago on XIV's Sephirot track, and here it finally is. Back then, I also mentioned following this up with What Makes the Sky Blue, as when this song ends in the raid, you're on the last 1/3rd of the fight, and the main theme for the event where this track debuts plays instead. Alternatively, you can follow it up with what is essentially another character's direct response to this track: Existence -New King Mix-.

Especially when it first came out it was extremely hard and it involved a lot of strategy and coordination through the different phases (it became a lot easier as time passed and new units came out in the gacha). The memories still remain though as does the epicness of the song!

I've heard a few songs before this channel and I've heard the name but I was never familiar with Granblue. The start reminds me of classical music, the organ sounds very good the choir is quite nice. This kind of sounds like a cutscene song at the start, I can imagine it. The really soft section where the vocals come in is an unexpected change up. The singers vibrato is very good, they sound like they've had some real good classical training. This has so many twists in it, I did not expect the electric guitars to come in. It's got this big feeling which is why the song isn't that fast, it has a lot of power behind it though. The synth was a nice touch, I'm liking the guitar chords. Key change and chords remind me of Power Metal, when they layer the instruments into this big climax is transcendent. I can hear some little sprinkles of emotion to where this is more than just an epic piece. I very much enjoyed this piece, great stuff.

this song is absolutely one of the best tracks in gaming. This is Narita's baby, his white whale, absolutely his magnum opus. This plays during one of the Hardest boss raids in the game. The boss' name is Lucilius, who is a clone of Lucifer. Lucifer rejected him for godhood over a different clone named Sandalphon and Lucilius basically went off the deep end, and this fight is the climax of a 3 part event that even has plotlines that run thru Granblue Versus (with Belial and Beelzebub). To this day it is still a bar for which to measure your in-game power. Beating it at all isnt super hard these days with some help due to some powercreep but beating it solo still is. Basically if this bad guy wins, the universe is over, will be rewritten in his image.

A little correction, Bahamut had 2 "prophets", Shalem and Helel, Helel later went into hiding (Later naming himself Lucio). After Bahamut separated himself into his Sky form and Astral form and created the Astrals, Lucilius was born (Also known as Faa-san) a perfect being. Faasan alone in his perfection created the Primarchs, and he created the most perfect of them in his image, thats the Supreme Primarch Lucifer. its a little confusing yeah, even more in Japanese because all 3 of them have the same name and they just differentiate them with the pronunciation of the same name.

I know of one upload that has the missing bit- Zero どうして空は蒼いのか Most of the uploaders probably don't really consider it a part of the song. It's not on the official track. AKA What Makes the Sky Blue For clarification: It plays when Lucilius has 175m hp (35%) remaining, this includes his wings. If his wings are alive, then it does not precisely play at 35% and may play only right before he dies if his wings have too much hp Which is weird because 35% is a trigger for Paradise Lost, but this will not happen if his wings are dead also, What Makes the Sky Blue's always starts from its 2:56 mark whenever it starts
