Granby Ranch’s flagship chairlift is a Leitner high-speed quad from 1999. It replaced a Yan triple called “Expedition,” and runs up the East Mountain side of Granby Ranch. The lift serves several green, blue, and black runs in the winter, and also runs in the summer for scenic chairlift rides and downhill mountain biking. This video was taken in the fall, and it showcases the amazing golden aspen trees. The lift was one of the last lifts Leitner built in the US before Leitner merged with Poma, and features rare single-mast terminals. The bottom terminal is a unique “pancake” style return station, with only the tire banks covered, leaving the bullwheel exposed. After an electrical accident in late December 2016 that resulted in one fatality, the drive system was rebuilt in 2017. The lift has 67 chairs and 14 towers. Estimated speed is 614 fpm.
