Prison School I think was often times very clever with how the humor was written, which I think is the main reason why people liked it, and why the ecchi humor worked. It takes place in a high school, and the main girls (Meiko, Hana, Mari) are third years, so I guess they'd be 17-18?

Japan you follow the age and school year, so last year of high school you start out being 17 and become 18 before it ends, unless you redid or skipped a year then you would start older/younger. Prison school is right at the beginning of the school year so they will have to have their birthdays right then and there if they are 18, so more probable they are 17. I don't remember any birthdays being celebrated in the manga.

Honestly, in my own opinion, Prison school and Konosuba are a leagues better comedy-wise than grand blue, again, in my opinion. It just didn't make me laugh as much as the former two did. But many people liked it so I guess it was just not my cup of tea.

When Prison school came out I was extremely turned off by the premise. The synopsis and art didn't interest me at all. One day I randomly gave it a chance cuz I was bored and I died every single episode from over laughing.

Everyone is saying it, but that's because they're right: Prison School is a different kind of show. If you can get over the gratuitous smut it's actually hilarious, and tells a legit good story about a group of friends. 9/10 reccomend

You should definitely watch Prison School, it's not just comedy but you actually care for the characters and the plot, plus the fanservice is so over the top and dramatic that it's hilarious, which is the probably what the author wanted.
