Its true! there is always some idiots in our national parks. Look at Zion park and the idiots that hike half dome and don't use gloves or think they don't need to use the chains. I watched some guy fall nearly to his death about 12 years ago. It wasn't a pleasant sight. His shoulder was ripped to the bone and his arm was hanging by tore flesh. It was from where he hit the ground from basically cartwheeling down the side of half dome. He survived but he had some serious injuries.

@@bassbytes im sorry but you're just wrong. Have you never jumped off something before? The internet is so full of armchair scientists that dont know shit about what they're talkin about but because it sounds somewhat smart its kinda believable. So im gonna debunk your theory using basic knowledge. Unless he had a running start what momentum would send him over the other side? Its not that hard to stop yourself from a simple 6-8 foot leap unless you're really uncoordinated. Hundreds of thousands of parkour videos can show jumps like that easily. Ive seen kids do jumps like that. I really dont think you're human if you cant understand how jumping and landing work

What most tourists don't realize is that young people in particular take these kinds of risks all the time. Sometimes they are foolhardy and sometimes they only look dangerous when they actually are not that bad. But the Grand Canyon videos get a lot of press because more people are watching. I used to do things similar when I hiked around in the mountains when younger. Sometimes I took risks that were beyond my actual skill level, but most of the time they were well within my comfort zone.

I used to engage in this type of behaviour when I was in my teens and twenties..I had my fair share of cuts and bruises-lost fingernails and snapped Achilles tendon..ultimately I was lucky.. I'm still here..my brother had a bad fall which pushed his shin bones through his thighs and he had to have his legs bolted back together and a very good friend of mine lost his life doing something which I had almost come to regard as a walk in the park..it really makes you think very hard about how fragile we are and how precious and fleeting life is..now I don't do anything involving any sort of risk unless I'm getting paid for it..then it's a simple calculation of risk against reward. Hopefully this young guy will survive this phase of his life and stops experimenting with fate..
