I'm 70, can't walk or do weight bearing exercise due to physical deformities, BUT I can bicycle! My husband & I took a road trip to the national parks for our 50th anniversary last fall and I was envious of the hikers in Grand Canyon. How THRILLED I was to come across this video today! This pandemic is so frightening but I'm trying to stay healthy & strong so while I couldn't hike with you, I could listen to a good beat thru headphones, watch your hike projected on my TV, and ride the trail like I was there!!! I don't know how you could hold a gopro for that long, or hike at such a steady pace, or pick up that pace after hiking on such a treacherous trail - I have no idea how old you are or what type of training this took to do - but I CAN tell you that what you did made for a truly amazing day at a very difficult time in the world. Stay safe, stay healthy, than keep on hiking with that gopro to help those of us who can't!!

@@glennredwine289 Thanks Glenn! I was very excited on our big anniversary trip to find so many NP’s that were car or very short walk accessible! I wish I could have afforded to do that trip when my body was able to do everything. I hope that you - like me - try to do as much as you can with what you've got! Thank you for this video. My parents are 92 and can no longer enjoy these kind of adventures in person. They stayed with your hike all the way to the bottom (although it took them most of the day!). This video was the most impactful view of one of the holiest places on earth! Thank you so much! You have done a great service to those of us who cannot do it ourselves (well, I might try the mule trip!)! The weather, time of day, lighting, were terrific but the geology, geography, majesty and the silence, are what made this so dear to me! Going down is hard on all your joints and toes get jammed. Going up is more of a cardio workout. Good to wear a heart rate monitor and set a pace accordingly. The last time I did this trail was when I turned 50. I prepped for 3 months and it still kicked my but. Best time to go is January or February to see snow and have the trail mostly to yourself. Also, the temperature is much nicer for hiking. Phantom Ranch is incredible for great food and comradery.

This is the best video to view when running on the treadmill. You even forget to count the time.. And the landscapes are really breathtaking!

Back in my running days, sometime in the summer of 1996, I ran from south rim past the last manmade structure (a restroom) where it kind of flat ground but before the river and then back up. Enjoyed it immensely.

I'm enjoying watching this from far away in sunny Australia. As I write this your video has just reached the 1hr 43 minute mark and I can hear how hard you're working by the heavy breathing from all that effort. I can hear the sounds of the breeze and the twittering of the birds and I feel I am right there. Its magical! I am so impressed at the beauty (and the terror!) of the walk and the scenery. Also I am so impressed at your sure footedness and your stamina. I realize those sleepers are probably across the path to prevent erosion but they must be so exhausting having to navigate over them. I'm so grateful you've made this video. I had polio as a baby which left my right leg paralyzed, so running down the Grand Canyon trail is something I would never have had the chance to do regardless of how much I've wished I could. So finding this video is wonderful, it's almost as if you are my legs and my eyes and I am loving this. I thank you for giving me and others the opportunity to see what that walk is like through your efforts. Amazing!

Very cool! I hiked north rim to south rim a few years ago (north Kaibab to Bright Angel). It was an amazing experience for my buddy and I and I'm sure for you too. Although your video is awesome, pictures and videos do not fully do the Canyon justice. I bet you understand what I'm saying. One has to experience it in person to get the full effect of its beauty and majesty. Thanks for sharing! Brings back great memories.

Thanks a million for posting this awesome video. I ran the whole thing on my treadmill. It was especially cool for me, as I did R2R2R last November and descended SK before sunrise, so even though I’ve done this trail before, this is my first time seeing the amazing scenery. I will most definitely watch this again!
