Just finished this install on a 2015 5.7 L High Altitude. Watched this video like 5 times along the way...Thanks Steve! Couple notes for future installers: -The instructions don't give a torque spec for the driver's side flange bolts. Online research led me to torque to 30 lbs. This does deform the flanges a bit but when I tried to use less force, the system had an audible rattle. Tighten these before fully torquing all your clamps. -I stripped one of my hanger bracket bolts using a socket wrench. Be cautions with these. -The exhaust grommet tool is money and a huge time saver. I picked it up at Advance Auto for $12. WD-40 liberally -I used an 18" piece of PVC to push the muffler grommets off the rear bumper hanger during removal. I couldn't reach these with hands or get a plier on them. -A bigass pair of vice grip pliers is handy for compressing the clamps when applying the anti-sieze lubricant to the bolt threads. -Install time for me was 3 hours including factory removal.

I don’t have experience with the extreme unit but the sport was great. Can still carry a conversation in the vehicle, though passengers in the back seat say it is a little louder than in the front seat. My son absolutely loved it. Hell yeah dude! You’re going to love it. It’s single handedly the best upgrade to the Jeep. As far as it’s condition, I ended up trading my Jeep in back in Late July 2022 for a Ford Raptor and sold it to a fellow locally. When I removed it back in July, it was only the nuts in the clamps that were showing signs of age with mild surface rust, that may be they’re not stainless? The bolts were just fine and everything else like the pipes themselves and the welds were all minty. I had a Volant CAI (still have it, actually) installed on mine before I put an exhaust on it and it sounded awesome. It really made the engine intake growl really loud. People have said the intake is quite (not quiet, quite) audible on the outside when giving it the beans. I highly suggest picking one up!

I need to touch up other spots from general wear and tear so I may do the chrome on the tail lights when I do the rest of the touching up. I have thought about tinting the taillights, but you can’t do just the lights, you also need to do the reflectors in the bumper and the 3rd brake light in the hatch. It would make it look sick for sure. Just not sure about that just yet. Thanks for the comment!

Actually one of the only videos I can find of the exhaust system being installed. Can’t wait! Now for torquing the rings have you had to do it again since and would your recommend lock nuts?
@iambigsteveo3 жыл бұрын
I love making videos of stuff that no one else has shared (or very little have) that many want to know. Glad you liked it! If I am honest, I haven't gone back under to re-torque or check if they have loosened up. Tightening them down to 40 lb-ft made them feel really snug the second time so I feel confident they are fine. Thing is, it's not necessarily the nuts backing off, it's the metal expanding and contracting as it gets hot and cold. The metal will stretch a small amount when it's first tightened down when heated up, and then is contracts a small amount when it cools down, then heats up and cools down again a couple times, the clamps will have stretched out a small amount never returning to it's original diameter, so re-torquing them after some heat cycles is simply closing the gaps from when they expanded and not returning to original diameter. I hope this makes sense. But this has peaked my interest. I will check this out the next time I get under the Jeep and I will let you know.

Sounds great! Any increase in performance or mpg?
@iambigsteveo2 жыл бұрын
What you want me to respond with is not going to be truthful, I'm sorry lol. There's no increase in performance, at least that I have felt. Strap it down on a dyno and you might find less than 10 free horse power, but you will never notice that little increase. MPG got worse if I am honest, the sound from this exhaust wants you to keep your foot in it as much as legally possible, so there's actually a decrease in MPGs.
@misio37372 жыл бұрын
Great job as always! Question. Few months ago I bought 2018 GC High Altitude and I've purchased an extenden Mopar warranty from the dealership. I want to put the same exhaust on my Jeep but I'm worried a bit about voiding warranty. Do you have any knowledge on that issue?
@iambigsteveo2 жыл бұрын
This is one of the Internet's greatest debates, whether an aftermarket catback exhaust will void a factory or extended warranty. I don't see why it can void the warranty, but I don't want to definitely say yes "you will be safe" or "no you will have warranty problems later" if you install it. You'd be taking my word for it and then placing the blame on me if you have problems later on and I don't want that to happen to you. Check out some forums and read about other people's experiences with warranties and aftermarket exhausts; go from there and then make your decision based on what you find out. Mine was out of warranty so it was a non issue for me. Good luck!

@@Jazzvibe3071 If I’m honest, I don’t drive around in eco much but I have a time or two. I feel it starves the enjoyment of driving. So, when MDS kicks in, you can hear it like you can with a stock exhaust, but it’s not very drone-y. Think of it as a louder sound of what the oem exhaust sounds like. I hope this helps!
@Jazzvibe30712 жыл бұрын
@@iambigsteveo definitely does. It's not a cheap system and I'm debating this and Borla. I've had several Borla systems and know what to expect. As an aside do you notice a serious reduction in mpg driving in sport? Whats your real world mpg?
@iambigsteveo2 жыл бұрын
@@Jazzvibe3071 Borla makes a great exhaust system so they are definitely a contender. I spent a lot of time looking up brands, the quality of the fabrication and I went with Corsa for their no drone tech they build into the system. It’s not to say Borla doesn’t have that also, but also the sound and tone of the Corsa really did it for me. As for my MPGs in sport? It’s crap 😂 I also use the flappy paddles because I like the feeling of the trans holding the gear I select, just like a manual and the ZF8HP is an awesome automatic transmission and can do that. Prior to the Jeep I drove manuals for about 16 years. Anywho, so my shifts are higher in the rpm range than in eco and more load on the low end so that eats up fuel, I end up averaging 12-14 mpg on a tank and that is mostly city. When I hop on the highway, I cruise with the higher end of the flow of traffic so those speeds don’t help either 😂. I would say my straight up sport highway driving is around 16-18 but I have never honestly seen the 14 city and 20 highway the thing is rated for anyways.
