Third daughter of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia and Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna of Romanov Dynasty. The flirtatious Maria had a number of innocent crushes in her early life, and she hoped to marry and have a large family. Her life was cut short when she and her entire family were murdered by Russian revolutionaries in 1918.

I have always been fascinated by her and her family's story, since I learned about them at school. It has haunted me since. Such sublime beauty, cruelly crushed like a flower in the prime of youth. I wrote about her and her sisters in one of my books. Imagining from research, what they were like, and their lives. very sad. To think they were locked away behind palace walls, for most of their lives, they did, however, nurse injured soldiers from the war. They were innocent and knew little about people's lives, on the outside, the poverty and starvation, and the impending tension and revelation.Thank you once again for such an incredible video. Back in those days, the "Russian" Royal family were more in the habit of speaking French. Such was the fashion of the times, not just for the Royals, but for all aristocracy. By the way, I'm Russian, originally, and I can attest that for a Russian speaker, French is easier to learn and to articulate/enunciate than English, significantly easier. I speak all 3 languages fluently now, but English has the weirdest sounds. Oh and but by the way, the Romanovs were not actually Russian, of course.

She, along with her 3 sisters and brother Alexei, her mother , the Tsarina Alexandra and he father Tsar Nicholas II, were killed during the night of July 17-18, 1918. She was the most beautiful Princess of her time and of the highest Royal of lineages of European Royalty. She did carry the genetic condition of Hemophilia, inherited through her mother from Queen Victoria, which severely affected her brother and would have affected her children should we all have been lucky enough for her to have lived her life and brought forth children of her own.

Didn't realize that she and I share the same birthday. How cool. :) Brilliant video! I was hoping there was a video for all of the Romanov children. This was very well done and really brought Maria to life. It makes it almost more painful thinking of what happened to them. :/

What a lovely girl she was. According to several books I read about the family during their incarceration, quite a few of the younger guards were smitten with Maria with one report saying that a few months before the murders, Maria and one of the guards were caught kissing which resulted in their guards being changed out to older, less sympathetic men. When you see the enhanced photos and the AI, you can see why guards fell for her.
