FYI everybody this is meant to be a diagnosis than a repair. Although it may repair it temporarily. We later replaced the temperature door actuator behind the dash in very tight work space with radio etc. removed. We were able to do it without pulling the dash.

yes, if you loosen all the dash bolts and jam a piece of wood behind the dash on passenger side, even then its a tight fit haha

Only two things break on these vehicles: The plastic intake manifold and the blend door actuator. One is a $130 part and 6 hours labor, the other is a $20 part and 4 hours of labor....and abraded knuckles. ;)

I have an '03 Grand Marquis (Ultimate). Check the Blend Door Actuator. Mine failed, and it allowed the blend door to stay open to the heater core. Pull the glovebox, and airbag, and use an 8 or 10mm ratchet-wrench on top of the hvac housing (under the dash cover). Note: you can replace the actuator WITHOUT pulling the whole dash out, but you need small fingers/hands to pivot the ratchet-wrench on the 3 bolts holding the actuator in place. Also, DON'T drop the little bolts, if you do, they're gone. Trust me on this. Just have a set of 3 spare bolts when replacing it.

I've done this with my 95 Linciln TC and the thump is the mode door actuator which involves dropping the dash and it's a pain. You can temporarily get the mode door 2 move but should've been done with car on run but not running. Push defrost to cancel mode test after you see any codes.

97 Mercury Grand Marquis same problem. No thumping. Pressed floor- Auto same time. 024 then 025 then repeat those numbers showed in my display. Tried all buttons then last button was blue AC button upper left and now Ice Cold Air. Thank you

i cant get my compressor to come on. i replaced my entire system evacuate and charged the system and will not come on if i direct wire it will com on but the high side pressure goes up. any ideas im really stuck. i replaced the low and high switches pressure switches too fuses are good, checked the ground using continuity and it works as well as the positive side. so no breaks in the wires

Check for 12v and ground right at the compressor clutch connector on the compressor. Update me with your readings.

@paulkelley862 ай бұрын
This may temporarily fix but it is intended to be a diagnostic procedure. Try it, sounds like you have an issue with a temperature door actuator.

I have an 08 marquis and I recently got a new compressor but it just started blowing hot air, what do you think I should do?
@paulkelley862 жыл бұрын
The root cause needs to be diagnosed. The new compressor is just a part of the system with many components so that being replaced means nothing about all the other components.
@aidanwhite72782 жыл бұрын
@@paulkelley86 thx, the ac was working for a few days until it started blowing hot again, do you think it will be an expensive fix ?
@paulkelley862 жыл бұрын
@@aidanwhite7278 You can't estimate it when you don't know what is wrong. You are going to pay for someone's time to diagnose, hopefully they are qualified and diagnose correctly. Then you are going to pay for an unknown theoretical part most likely, then for the labor to more than likely replace or repair a part. Maybe it is a leak, maybe its a failed component, damaged harness, who knows...... When you understand that, yes, it will cost money. Would I consider it expensive? I don't know, a $7 starbucks is expensive to me, a first time correct diagnosis without multiple guesses and wasted money on incorrect diagnosis sounds like a great bargain if you asked me. Make sure whoever does your work knows what they are doing, and pay them what they are worth. Or try to save some money by using a "cheaper" option and see how that goes.

How much should this cost to repair ?
@paulkelley862 жыл бұрын
The point is the video is to aid in diagnosis. You don't know what is wrong with your car, which is why a reputable shop will charge a diagnosis fee, to determine the source of your issue, then provide you with an estimate. There are dozens of possibilities when AC blows warm.

orifice tube?
@paulkelley864 жыл бұрын
An orifice tube issue would affect pressures and this test wouldnt have changed the vent temp. If doing this makes it work, it is a problem with the temp/blend door.
