Maybe the last true Grand National when Becher's Brook was legendary.

An interview today would be "charge and hurdle or breast the first on the inside and then every other jump unless dolled off and sprint to the end giving a 1lb away"

Dave was a true Gentleman - It was a pleasure to know him over many years.

He may have been a true gentleman but he should never have been allowed anywhere near a national and the horse too. This was 15 years after Nereo's jockey the Duke of Alberquerque was getting injured every year.

@@julzyboy1973 Hi Julzboy - Where you one of Dave’s Stable lads ?
@julzyboy197327 күн бұрын
@@christidd no but I remember Peter Scudamore saying similar to what I have said and he was champion jockey.

@@julzyboy1973 Scudamore talks a load of shit. The horse didn’t fancy it and tried to refuse several times. These things happen. Even if the jockey wasn’t qualified, that’s not why the horse died.

@@keithwellerlounge74 If the horse did not fancy it then pull it up. After all as you said the horse tried to refuse several times. The jockey wanted above all to get round & didn't give a f about the horse. Same as Beau Bobs jockey (Jeremey Glover) 14 years before.
