Hello old fellow Minnesotan, I gotta say this channel has given my 13yo son and I a chance to pull a 75 F100 out of his great grandpa’s farm. It sat since ‘91 and we have managed to get it running by moving through the steps he watched in your videos of revivals. Please keep your revivals coming, he has learned a lot mechanically and we both laugh at your narration 👍. Also a feller finds himself reciting a lot of your quotes daily to other fellers I work with 😂

I like the theme of "do what you can afford as long as you keep doing". I own a body shop and feel like I'm telling people they have a terminal illness every time I quote them a resto/custom paint job. But, I always encourage them to try themselves if it's their personal project, as the reward of standing back and saying, "I did that", is far greater than saying "I paid someone to do that".

I think you have single handedly started the trend of guys just enjoying the project they have as they can afford. Rather than let it sit until they can afford a full restoration. Pretty much everyone I know has dragged out whatever projects they have and have been getting them going and doing whatever they can, as they can. I am guessing you might have an idea that you are one of the most influential car guys of the last decade. Congratulations! You sir deserve it.

Derek, I just rescued an '86 Porsche 944 Turbo this spring with very similar paint. From the paperwork, the car was last titled in 1994. The clear on the hood had wrinkled and turned to leather, the dark paint on all the fender flares is worn through to the white primer as is the roof. I had considered doing this same process but with production clear and have even wiped a few test areas. Until seeing this finished product I couldn't have considered going all the way through with it. Now I just might, scratch that, I will but more likely in a satin just to smooth it up a teensy bit. Thanks to you and the family for your time in producing some of the most entertaining auto content on the internets. Tony in MD

LOVE this car!!! Thank you for all you do! Aside from the work on the car, I’m aware how much other work goes into making these channels. It’s awesome your family supports you with this and is often included. Keep up the good work, you are truly appreciated!!

What a transformation! Loved the shot of the test drive after the headliner came down. The little strings blowing in the wind reminded me of Ford vs. Ferrari when they taped the yarn to the GT40. Absolutely love the look of the rusty hood clear coated. Another great video.

Derek, you are a major inspiration for the rest of us. Especially the message at the end. This week we will be putting a 2001 Blazer back on the road. It was last registered 11 years ago and was massively overheated. It is my son's first vehicle, he bought it for $700. 2 years later and a complete engine rebuild, brake rebuild and lots of wiring repairs, it is brought back to life. It may not be a Chevelle or Mustang, but it is a good running vehicle we have sweat equity in and are proud of!

Derek does it again with the long form content. One huge amount of energy used in such a rewarding way. VGG never disappoints.
