Interesting and historically correct that the dancers (all who of course were professionally very strong en pointe) rarely in this rise or do long sessions on full pointe. this is due to the shoes - when the ballet was created, did not allow for much pointe work in 1840s and were in fact normal dancing pumps of the period of satin with either papiere mache or a small block of wood at the toe. Some dancers especially the Italians Grisi and Cerrito and Taglioni despite their strong ankles and feet only rose on the toes for a short period.
