I just found this magical and superbly elegant dancer. I think she’s the best Giselle I’ve seen, in terms of capturing the essence of the character, specially in the second act. Her grace and musicality are unrivaled.

I am old enough to have seen Fracci do this onstage in the 1960s when she was at the top of her game. I don't deny Osipova's legendary speed and power, but the thing is, in my view, these almost get in the way. I also saw many Giselles. And I have never yet seen matched the melting beauty of Fracci's second act, especially her portes de bras. Her very fine technique is almost unnoticeable because of how she embodied Giselle. In this ballet, that should be the point. It has to be about more than speed and jumps. And poster below who noted timing off is correct. Maximova I was too young ever to see onstage. Ulanova coached her first her first Giselle. Footage is only available of her doing the lond second act adagio, and it is the only place I have seen the same sort of achingly beautiful movement. Osipova is a great dancer. But she is not, in my opinion, a great Giselle. It has to be about more than speed and jumps.

Знаете, друзья, о чем я подумала. Если бы знакомиться с принцем приехали на бал испанка Наташа Осипова и русская Ульяна Лопаткина, бедный принц застрелился бы, потому что не смог сделать выбор между этими двумя красавицами. А в это время обе лебедихи и все остальные невесты нервно курили за углом😂

Осипова кроме восхищения не вызывает ничего другого, но я не поняла, это что два выхода с фуэте в одном спектакле, ... а что это за цирк, а так бывает???
