My Experience: NEVER USE a woodruff key on a tapered crank PTO .. just lap it in really good, then torque it to spec, FULLY. The key only provide alignment, it does not increase the holding power of the taper lock. If your clutch spins loose, if a woodruff key is present, it may chip, crack or break off your crankshaft end!!! NEVER use those keys!!!

I have the smallest available spacer, and the clutch still binds when it warms up after a few laps. I can feel it plowing into a turn when I slow down, and it makes a skipping noise when it grabs and let’s go once it’s warm. Any ideas? Do I have a warped crank?

Sir, is this a shifter kart? If it's not, then what's the clutch used for, if there are no gears to shift?
@KrustyKlown Жыл бұрын
It's a kart racing clutch for non-gearbox classes (almost all kart racing classes),, it slips, allowing the engine to run at it's torque peak, until the clutch locks up. For most kart racing 2-stroke engines, that slip speed can be 9,000 to 11,000rpm.
