hey graham! I don't know if you remember this but i was a little kid in a straw fedora that walked up to you and said something along the lines of "Are you the one who does the videos?" I was so excited and kept shaking your hand.

I remember that white draft deck from Magic 2015. You'd see the turn 1 Selfless Cathar and know what was going to happen on the next two turns. You couldn't stop it, but you know it was going to happen.
@MaraK_dialmformara7 жыл бұрын
I wasn't playing then. What happened?
@TheBluemechanic7 жыл бұрын
Turn 1, plains and Selfless Cathar, turn 2, another plains and either in your main phase or during the opponent's turn cast raise the alarm to put 2 soldier tokens into play, turn 3 play a third plains, then tap all your lands and your cathar and tokens for convoke to cast triplicate spirits. Having 3 1/1 fliers on turn 3 was very aggressive in draft and one of the most popular draft archetypes.

also I don't understand how you can open a sealed pool and not keep it if you kept the first sealed you would have done great.
@Luteloots7 жыл бұрын
The way deck registration use to work at sealed GPs was you would open a pool and register the cards and then swap that pool with someone else. Sometimes it was as simple as the person across from or next to you and sometimes the judges would collect them all and then randomly give them all back out. It was to prevent cheating and people slipping bombs into their pools etc. Now you just go through it with the person across from you I believe and open+register one deck at a time and keep your own pool. It became and issue and they had to change the rules with the original modern masters because you could drop at any time meaning if you opened a pool with a ton of value like a Goyf + foil Goyf many players would drop on the spot before swapping decks, especially since the value of that pool was far higher than your expected value on doing well in the event.
@TheReal_birbwizard7 жыл бұрын
Yeah see the pool swapping just sounds like nonsense do you at least get to the pool you originally opened back at the end?
@Luteloots7 жыл бұрын
Nope, you're effectively opening and registering a pool for someone else. This way if you were to cheat and slip in a bomb mythic or such in place of a garbage rare you are only benefiting some random stranger who ends up with it. Because someone else went through it and registered it you never have a chance to cheat and put different cards in. You saw the little slips of paper where you write in how many of each card you open in that pool. The only way you could keep what you originally open would be to drop from the event before the pools were collected and swapped. A few people doing this wouldn't be an issue but with events like the modern masters GPs that were huge huge events and thousands of people you'd end up with hundreds of people dropping which would take a lot of time to deal with registering the drops on the event recorder and getting pairings done correctly after all of those drops.
@TheReal_birbwizard7 жыл бұрын
Wow is it still like that or did they change all sealed events?
@Luteloots7 жыл бұрын
I believe they've changed all sealed events to no longer do pool swaps like that anymore. It's especially problematic these days with masterpieces and such. You might be able to find a store here or there that still insists on doing pool swaps with gpts or pptqs but it would definitely be abnormal if you did.
