"Landlords are trying to keep up with current market rates." Why though? Are these nation wide rental hikes really all due to them needing to recoup lost rent from negligent tenants? I think what that first statement really means is that just like how with everyone else cashing in on the inflation money train excuse due to these alleged shortages in stock supply or rising costs at some point along their production line. Regardless, they too just want to get in on Corporate Americas current path to the destruction and death of this capitalist society that they've gotten soo greedy with.

It’s happening all over. Here in Tennessee we had two complexes in my town that went from $600 to $800 a month to $1100 to $1480 a month. They were for low income people and they were required to have a job because they didn’t take section 8. A lot of people who lived there were new to the country. We’re very close to Nashville but in a different county so all of the surrounding counties saw increases because of the people moving in. And moving out in rural areas doesn’t help because they’re increasing out there too. Everything‘a increasing fast except pays and the south is notorious for low paying jobs. Usually if it pays well they bring their own people instead of how people in our area.

I live in the boonies kinda near Crossville ( 1 hour east of Cookeville) and it's happening here, too. People are buying little plots of land and building all these cookie cutter homes out here in the middle of nowhere. It looks so out of place. I moved out here to get away from that nonsense. I'd also like to mention that a lot of land here on the plateau is being scalped for more land for massive livestock farms.... Which is much better (visually) than homes being built but it hurts to see it happen because it's really hurting the family farms. The people who own the land out here are apparently very greedy.

@@fioregiallo My mom grow up in Nolensville Tennessee and it used to be so beautiful out there. I remember people riding horses up and down the street. That’s why I use to love to come and visit my grandparents when we moved away. My grandparents had a horse, pigs and cows and my aunt lived down the street and she had a couple of horses and cows. Now it’s cluttered with houses just like Brentwood. I moved to Kannapolis North Carolina when I was in first grade. It use to be pretty there too but it’s becoming cluttered with houses there too. I say cluttered because they’re on top of each other and that scares me. A few years ago I lived in a neighborhood in Antioch. A house caught on fire and it jumped from house to house to house because they were so close together. The area I grew up in wasn’t like that but I’m sure it is now. I remember when you bought a house and you had a nice size front and backyard. Now you have this itty-bitty little yard and the realtors claim its huge. It’s only big enough to spit in. You can’t even put a pool in it. You can yell at your spouse and your next-door neighbor’s spouse will say what. I remember how my grandparents had these solid homes. Now you get a house and the walls are so paper thin that you can hear everything the person in the next room do. It’s crazy. I hate how they’re taking away all the green space. I missed how green it’s use to be with trees and grass. Now you see it less and less.
