Thanks for this video, I'm currently considering purchasing this model and I have to agree 9f would be my reason for going with GS as well. I think this is a great everyday watch for those of us that need to track two time zones.

Brother, you absolutely must start doing a straight-down, 90 degree magnified camera view of the second hand as it moves around the dial face to evaluate the alignment of the second hand with the indices. For $5k, I expect perfect alignment.

Nice one. You can get a traveler's gmt with 9f new for well under $4k, too. I don't have the ref #.. it's sort of a newish one. My first GS I got fairly recently is a 9F.. hasn't missed a beat since I got it over a month ago. Damn accurate is an understatement. It's an older ref, sbgx115, but a cool GS diver and one of the few with no date, (one of) the first GS diver with a 9F, and as far as i know the only GS diver with a white dial.

This quartz movement is hand finished, highly decorated, and built completely in house, down to Seiko growing their own quartz crystals and building their own batteries. The movement has over 100 moving parts and is assembled by hand. This plus the watch case, dial, hands, and bracelet are all also finished by hand. Yeah, if you want a Swiss watch with these features you’re gonna be paying well over $10K. Go look up how much an FP Journe quartz watch costs.

I wish they’d make a sweeping quartz movement. Similar to what Boliva offer in the$500 range. The jerky stuttering pausing seconds hand on most quartz movements bothers me!

Grand Seiko Quartz watches tick twice per second so quickly that it’s not perceptible to the human eye. It does this so you don’t get that jerky/wobbly motion you mentioned. You get a very consistent 60 ticks per minute that hit the minute track perfectly every time. Grand Seiko quartz are not like a normal quartz watch. They are completely engineered by Seiko, highly decorated, and some of the nicest quartz watches money can buy. That said, I would enjoy a sweeping quartz watch from GS also.

Citizen the citizen provides as good or even better precision and is totally solar powered. The tech part is beyond GS IMO. GS got better brand name though.
