Your review is very good, but, this watch is at best indoors under the light , in my opinion. Indoors shows the highlights on this watch the best, it's too bright outdoors. I also disagree with you on the band, I think this band goes with the watch 100%. There is a contrast with the band being brushed and polished at the edges. It is a perfect match with the case I think. What would of topped it off is 18kt in the vertical links in the band, with 18kt hands and markers on the dial, Now you got a real winner ! Edit: A strap absolutely does not go with this type of case because of the design of the case. Sure one can put a strap, if one requires one , but not on this style of case, and for the price your paying, why not have the beautiful brushed band instead? It goes perfect with the watch ! I going out to buy this watch for my collection, your review worked on me, I have to get one of these, maybe I can order a custom from Grand Seiko with the 18kt vertical links and 18kt markers and hands?

Im considering this as my everyday watch, field watch, tool watch, sportswatch. i dont want to take it of my wrist so “I dont scratch it”… Do you think it qualifies as one? Perhaps compared to an aqua terra 150 or a even a rolex explorer.

The Aqua Terra and explorer work better as everyday watches. This one lacks lume, but it could still be worn as a daily.

Ive got a real hankering for a blue watch. Tossing up between this and a blue omega 300m. The 300m seems a little gimicky, but then so does the textured dial of the shibin, thoughts?

What does the rest of your collection look like? both are fantastic, but one could make sense over the other if you more sports/dressy watches. Also, the omega is a larger watch compared to this Grand Seiko, so that is also something to consider.

You can't compare Omega 300m to this, when it comes to the hand finishing of the case ! Omega is good too, I have them also, but if you are in to the details, Grand Seiko can't be beat !

I totally disagree with you about this GS not having any lumens. I bought the SBGA019 and love it but Every GS coming out these days have the same dials (only change colors), hour markets, hands, bracelets. These are so boring so I will never buy another GS again. Now I have more money to buy another Rolex.

Anything over 140-150 grams is way too much for a dressy every day watch. I am a big guy and I find heavy watches uncomfortable for a full day use, if you have activity especially in the summer. If you just sit at your desk all day doing nothing then it could be ok.
