Often, I'm asked about top options available below $10,000 or $5,000, and I recommend Spring Drive Grand Seikos for consideration in almost every instance. Mechanically unique with a handsome hand-finished case and bracelet, this is a formidable offering: automatic; 3-day power; Spring Drive precision of +/- 15 seconds per month; lumen dial; steel/black combo to wear with anything; water resistant to 100-meters. Best, Tim

Look at the polish popping in and out of the light. How lovely

I’ve got the 39mm version (sbga085) and it’s a great solid watch without being a tool watch. It feels so well made and yet so simple and understated. It hasn’t completely grown on me yet and I still wonder whether I should have got a champagne or iwate/snowflake dial instead but this is one of the classiest GS on bracelets in my opinion

Black polishing on a watch CASE. Grand Seiko has to be the first to ever do this. Droooooooool

GS is such a fine watch. If it endeavors to elevate the Seiko brand, The task might me easier if Seiko would stop churning out cheap, non-hacking, rotor wind only divers. Disclosure: I do own a SKX and I enjoy beating the piss out of the little bugger.

Halebopp I love my SKX and am looking into either getting a SARB or maybe entry GS to assist it in the more dressy situations. I actually think Seiko should learn a media step or two from newer brands to boost their value. They already have pieces to make them even greater but many people don’t know
