Grand Theft Auto III Toughened Mod Speedrun Guide / Walkthrough

Toughened is a mod for GTA3 that adds a brutal amount of difficulty by limiting features and changing a lot of the main missions. This guide's purpose is to showcase both safe & risky strategies in order to complete the mod in under two hours. Furthermore I detail all of the changes made in the mod compared to the original game, and how to deal with them.

Thankyou so much for showing this mod, been playing Gta 3 on Steam for over 300 hours and I found the game to be too easy, I remember I saw this mod back in 2016 and I kinda forgot about it, and now I faced it a shot, and I liked the mod because it felt so weird and funny with doing the opposite in missions and the funny enemies that was guarding the finish mission location to just troll, I managed to complete all missions without using any tanks/BP vehicles, and the hardest one for me was a Drop in The Ocean but I managed to find a strategy if you forgot to get the tank, all you had to do was to drive left and up to the walking bridge and just camp there and look north because the cars would keep respawning. I also found Expresso To Go to be tough because The mafia with the shotguns was annoying as always but I managed to get to the construction zone to get +7 minutes when my timer was at 1 second remaining, I just wish the mod could have been longer with all missions and side missions so we could try to get 100%, 32 missions isn’t that long

I finished toughened and you know what, liked it more than tightened. Tightened has many missions where you have to lean on your luck. But in this mod, if you know the strategies, it's very entertaining. Thank you for this video Ben :)

I noticed with this version it skips the rest of Luigi's missions and Joey's missions as well I've also been watching the other version of GTA III the tightened thrice I love that walkthrough it changes the way of the game and all the missions all together and stuff I know there's one for Vice City and I think there's also one still for San Andreas the Titan version of San Andreas as well tightenedreas too 😊

At the very beginning it is faster to jump off the bridge where USJ is, instead of using the route as in any%. In the second mission it is better to park the banshee next to the ambulance, reenter it, take the police car, after the mission get into the police car to have 10 shotgun bullets and do the rest of the missions using the banshee. In the paparazzi purge mission you can take the police boat, go right far enough to pass the buoys on its right side, after a while turn left until you see the island, get out of your boat, shoot the boat with your sniper rifle, the guy will start swimming towards you and you kill him with your M16, it's faster than the chase.

​@@englishben also: -drive away from warehouse (south-west) will dispawn swat guys and spawn maria faster -skip armor on CtG and pick up platinum with other car (that could save 10 seconds on last request) and go back to taxi and pick curly bob, then get two stars during drive to docks so you could use cop car for next mission instead of ambulance (maybe kill those two mafia guys with AKs to get easier kill with AK that triad in fish factory) -dont deathwarp after blowfish, buying weapons during sayonara salvatore seems slower than that drive from fish factory to salvatore manision, -you can stay behind banshee on sayonara salvatore so mafia guys wont shot you, -drive by guys in park on US -idk if it faster but i used panlantic van to jump over fence on GTAero I think thats it, i dont have any other ideas :) I tried to put bomb in car on third island and park it near place where another wave of stalls will spawn on E2G, but explosion didnt destroy stall when i was on second island. And idk if its possible, but instead of parking tank in garage, leave it and reenter it near Donalds place to prevent dispawn it.

@@scorpio92 The early banshee strat didn't work unfortunately, you need to keep it for Luigi's Girls so taking the ambulance isn't possible. - I do this in runs now - I already skip armour in runs now, but grabbing the platinum is a good idea for sure (might be a little tight) - Using a cop car for T&T might be doable, but using the AK is useless. The mission is coded so that the AK does almost zero damage to them. - You need armour to tank the shotgun blasts during Sayonara. Parking the banshee to block the shots would mean you can't get the quick kill on Sal so you'd lose time I'm pretty sure. - Don't think it's possible to drive by the park guys on US, I just shoot them over the wall (see my PB) - Using the van is definitely slower on GTAero, that was my old strat. - Car bombs don't work on E2G as you need to be within a certain radius before the stalls spawn, I tried messing with that before and came up empty-handed :(

Won't IL strats for 'Drop in the Ocean' (when you record a replay for collecting packages) work? It seems you could record it after killing someone for Asuka on Predator, then you can receive a tank, buy weapons and return to Donald Love's before dropping.

No logic at all, just a dumb secret that nobody ever figured it and had to be told by the devs.
